The 1-3 Thread

Someone is changing Daks play. He is simply a RPO QB. He has to have a handful of designed runs for himself. The giants game he went to the line and read the defense and took off. He took a few deep shots. He kept the defense shaken up. When they play that way the run game works better and the pass game works off of it.

We brought the same Offense yesterday that we brought to the panthers and had the same results. Leave your Defense out to dry.

I don’t know who is changing this game plan. Linehan and JG or Dak himself? We are going to have the same results every time we do this.

It's sad man. Zero play in the preseason at all. Yet another fabulous strategic faux pas by the great clapper.
Knew what to expect in the first game because of not playing starters in preseason. Yesterday was a staff or Dak meltdown. The negated TD to Elliot because he stepped out was the beginning of the end. It took the only big play away.

Dak or the staff never had Dak run a designed run to himself till the 4th quarter. And we got yards and drew the flag. No deep shots at all. When we get away from the RPO plan this is what happens. It will continue. This week you will see the Dak play from 2016.

As much as I despise Dez, he was 100 percent correct about Linehan. Please enjoy the refresher. Dez is speaking from the heart and his heart is true below.

& the one that says it all....

Please see Dez's tweet. The one I fixed up. Did he not nail what is happening rt now?

Seriously dude... The appointment of Kellen Moore is a direct indictment of the deficit we have in the area of management.
I knew as soon as that hire was made that it would bite us in the *** sooner than later. It didn't make any sense to me then and it looks just as baffling now... I dont think the boneheadedness of this decision can be overstated.

It almost seems to me as though this team is doing its best to keep experienced QB types away from Dak (the Kellen hire, along with the fact that we have kept absolutely zero backup QBs with any experience since 2016)

If any major coaching change were to happen this season, IMHO, Scott Linehan would take the fall and someone else — either from within or from outside the organization — would be brought in as an interim OC to finish the 2018 season.

Garrett would then conveniently have the pressure to win removed from his shoulders, because how could any HC be expected to win after suffering the staff upheaval of having his owner/GM fire his OC during the season?

The Cowboys would then ride out whatever remained of the season as best they could, while Jones searched for another potential scapegoat of an OC and the Garrett Process would continue.

The only thing that might alter the above scenario is if the Cowboys experienced a marked drop in fan-based revenue — which likely won’t happen.

Detroit is surging....

They beat the Pats last night where Brady only had 133 yards passing (wow.. less than 150 yards passing Brady must suck right Dak haters?)...

So the possibility of going 1-3 is very real.

Expect Linehan to be gone if we lose next week. I would be shocked if Jerry's head didn't explode after a Lions loss.

I disagree with the assertion that players aren't playing with the needed excitement and effort (inspired play), but the talent level isn't what it needs to be, and the coaching doesn't put players in the best position to succeed.

Someone help me here.

Zeke stepped out of bounds on a circle route on the right sideline. Perfect throw from Dak. TD.... Flag because dude rounded the route all the way to the liquor store to grab some Henny on the way.

Great runner.. but we need that other piece too. Catch passes out of the backfield.

Is that on the player or the coaching staff?

I completely agree with you. We do need that.

Now why can't you be that critical of Dak? Asking Honestly. I mean Dak, despite his performance this season (and last), didn't even crack your "level headed" discussion list.

How come Stafford never sucked like Dak under Linehan? Maybe the issue is more Dak and less Linehan. Linehan is to blame but what can he call that Dak can actually play at a high level? Answer, all the dink and dunk routes.
Stafford did suck, he threw a lot of INTs, 16-20 each season except for the one he was injured. Having Megatron to throw jump balls to, makes a QB job much easier. His first full year with Linehan went well, but his QB rating the following years regressed until Linehan left. After Linehan left his INTs dropped and his QB rating climbed.

Listen closely.

Dak could have performed better yesterday. There were a few high and low throws that made a difference.

That said:

  • His offensive line continues to woefully under-perform in the area of pass protection.
  • His OC is in the booth and apparently using the appointed QB coach as an intermediary for communication with Dak. Dumbest thing ever. Linehan and Dak should always be in direct communication. Kellen Moore (aka Garrett Jr in OJT) can listen in but he should not be in the middle of the comm between the OC and the QB.
  • Please watch the all 22 and observe Tyron getting abused. It's sad to see and we all know the LT is the right handed QB's security blanket.. period.
  • Zeke did him zero favors on that wheel route to the liquor store and then to the end zone on a perfectly thrown TD pass via a scramble (because the pocket collapsed yet again).
  • Connor Wiliams is also someone to watch. He's learning in place and gets pretty abused at times by stronger NFL level DTs.
Be sure to note the bull rush of Connor into Dak's throat yesterday.
So, with all that being said, there are much bigger issues than just blaming Dak.

I've said it before and I will say it once more. Cooper Rush looked like the second coming last preseason. Even I bought into it. Be honest with yourself and tell me how he looked this preseason... a preseason in which he got loads of playing time because Dak was bubble wrapped... Is Cooper that bad? No... Does Kellen Moore inspire Cooper Rush? No.... Does Linehan adjust his strategy to suit the skills of his play caller... A thousand times no....

I don't buy into the opinion that it's all on the signal caller when you have all of what I outlined going on around him. The oline is a literal shambles. Dak doesn't know snap to snap whether Tyron is going to get school or Connor is going to get bull rushed. His left side is the most important side for that right handed QB. Why might Dak get happy feet in the pocket? Perhaps absorb some of what I just said here...
