The 90s Cowboys are still the best NFL dynasty of all time

No ifs or buts about it. Kids nowadays will never understand what us older folk witnessed. We witnessed greatness. I don’t care how many rings that cheating Brady has. I don’t care about Montana. I don’t give a damn about that punk Mahomes. Troy Aikman and his Cowboys are still the best dynasty in NFL history. The true fans know it to be true. The 90s Cowboys would dismantle the 2024-2025
Chiefs. The 90s Cowboys would outman the 2007 Patriots. Montana would throw four picks in a championship game. The Cowboys were just that good and don’t let anyone fool ya!
If the youngin' don't believe you, I have quite a few VHS tapes of some of those great years I can share with them..

It will be debatable if the zebras keep favoring the Chiefs. Definitely more difficult to do in a the salary cap era.

Agreed. If not for the cowboys, the niners would have been talked about as one of the best dynasties. The fact that the cowboys had to deal with that team and still win those Superbowls is impressive.
There hasn't been a perennial powerhouse that the chiefs have had to compete with in this stretch.

They are no doubt the greatest team in Cowboys history .

And if we’d won 4 in a row or more we could have absolutely stamped our greatest of all time team.

But if we can separate our fandom from our Cowboys rise colored glasses in a more unbiased mode perhaps the measurement is dominance in an era. That doesn’t mean our 90’s Cowboys team couldn’t beat any of them. But what dynasty was the most successful and dominated their era.

I’d start with the 60’s Packers who won 5 Championships and still only team to win 3 in a row. And to date still have the most HOFamers . That would be a pretty strong argument.

While the 70’s were IMO our greatest era with 5 SB and 7 NFC Champ game appearances although we only had 2 rings but for a decade it was our most dominant team in an era. The 90’s with more success in 4 years and no doubt a better team but didn’t dominate the entire decade.

And the Patriots have been arguably the most dominant team we’ve seen in any era. 9 SB appearances and 6 rings. No other team in NFL history can compare.

The Chiefs could set a new mark this year with 3 straight SB wins. And could be on their way to most dominant team this era along with Patriots. And could easily surpass the achievements our 90’s Cowboys made.

While I’d put that 90’s Cowboys team up against anyone they didn’t have as dominant of era which they were definitely on their way to becoming until Jethro’s ego got in the way.

They were dominant, and my favorite of all time. As yours.
We can’t say that they are the best any more. If you use the standards you used to measure our team, the Pats would come out on top . The Pats and everything they accomplished is a better dynasty. Not our favorite, but better.

Not so sure about the Patriots, they would have smashed coddled Mahomes though

Perhaps I'm the only one who thinks the 70's team was better than the 90's team, oh well...
The 1970's Cowboys were certainly much more competitive over the full decade than the 1990's team was. And I agree the 1970's team is overlooked, but a lot of fans forget or ignore history they didn't see or that isn't as prominent in the media

I wouldn't even put the 90's Cowboys in the top 5, in fact I'd put the 70's Cowboys over the 90's Cowboys even before discussing the other great decade teams such as the Packers, Patriots, Chiefs etc.

I'm getting old...

To me, Tom Landry WAS the cowboys. The guy was old school, served his Nation during WW2 as a bomber pilot, and you couldn't help but think of respect when he was on the football field in his hat and blazer. To get respect you have to give respect, which that man did.

Legacy is Eternal

I was there for it. A senior in high school when they won in ‘92. Freshman in college when they went back to back in ‘93. I was the only person from Texas on the campus and they treated me like I was part of that team. Same thing in ‘95.

True, he did screw it up. But he also helped build it, although he's been lost since. It's irrelevant to the to the topic anyway. What might of been doesn't count.
Yes, he helped build it by hiring Jimmy. Wish he'da learned that lesson.

Disagree on relevance, and strongly. This topic is about the greatest NFL dynasties of all time. We don't quite qualify, but prolly would qualify if Jerry hadn't parted ways w/ Jimmy.

I don't know. I'm down for a discussion between the 90's Boys and today's Chiefs but the Patriot dynasty lasted 2 decades and what was it? 7 rings (maybe 6) but it would be really hard to duplicate that 2 decade run of the Patriots.
There will never be a run like the Patriots given how good Brady was and how crazy long his career was. AND they didn't in the salary cap era. They have to be at the top.
