So, mens and assorted ruffians here, you want T.O to leave?
Sometimes I wish that too. But then I come back to my senses.
I envision a world without T.O. wearing the star. And this is what it could look like.
DALLAS -- Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips today acknowledged that the 2009 season will be a long one if the passing game keeps regressing.
The Cowboys have Witten and Roy Williams as their primary receivers, but with Witten covered and often double-teamed and Roy Williams forgetting his routes, Tony Romo managed only 120 yards passing. After those two receivers, the talent level takes a steep drop.
In the offseason, the Cowboys shipped off Miles Austin to Miami for future draft choices and Terrell Owens signed a two-year deal with the New York Giants after the Cowboys dumped him.
"This is where I was meant to be," a beaming Owens said Monday in the media capital of the world where he was busy signing endorsement deals.
In Dallas, there was already some friction.
"I know what I can do and i want the ball!" Crayton shouted angrily after the first game of the season in which Dallas ran a running attack using Felix Jones and Tashard Choice while Phillips allowed Barber to "rest" to weather the long season ahead.
OR
T.O. signs with . . . Philly.
PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia Eagles, who have their 2008 roster intact and are among the favorites to make it to the playoffs, have astounded the football world by re-signing Terrell Owens.
Owens, flanked by a smiling Donovan McNabb and an excited Brian Westbrook, said he and his two fellow players form the trinity of one of the most dangerous combinations in football.
"Everyone on the team, everyone in the city, is excited," McNabb said. "We let bygones be bygones and everybody is ready to take the NFL East." And he added, "Playing the Cowboys will be an extra treat for the trio. We look forward to hanging a big L on the Cowboys twice this year."
Or
BOSTON -- And the rich get richer.
The New England Patriots signed wide receiver Terrell Owens, who, after being dumped by the Dallas Cowboys, said he wanted to play for a "contender."
"And contender is not even in the same vocabulary with Cowboys" said Owens, who launched his "Popcorn Time" merchandising line in Boston that same day.
OR
PHOENIX -- Larry Fitzgerald can't be double-teamed anymore.
He has Terrell Owens on the other side of the field and both expect an avalance of footballs thrown at them this year.
"No one will be able to defend us," a beaming Owens told reporters at the recent signing of the wide receiver dumped by Dallas.
Antwan Boldin, who soured on the Cardinals after Fitzgerald become THE passing target last year, was in Dallas today after he was traded for Owens.
"All I know is that I came here under duress and I expect to have the ball thrown to me as a No. 1 receiver. Treat me like a man!" he shouted to a surprised and silent Wade Phillip. . . .
or maybe Owens will just sign with the Commanders....
All these scenarios just make me sick.
Keep T.O. and prosper
Dump T.O. and see if our secondardy can cope with him. I don't think so, Newman.
