Agreed. Maybe Raimi was looking for an actor similar in physical appearance and temperment to Tobey Mcguire. If that was the case, the strategy failed.

Actually Raimi basically had Venom forced on him, and didn't want to add that character at all. The movie was only supposed to have Sandman, with the Vulture being introduced, but not a main antagonist. It's part of the reason he pulled away from doing Spiderman 4 and 5. He was being rushed, and didn't like any of the material written for the next movies.

As for the Amazing Spiderman.. Meh.

It was a decent movie, Enjoyable like Spiderman 1 and 2.

I liked some things better in this movie than the last for sure, however it was a huge disappointment. They trailers really made it seem like it would have a more serious and darker tone than the Raimi's. Much the same as Nolan's new Batman series.

It didn't do that. It was only slightly slightly darker toned. It was really much the same as the Raimi's. I did like the acting in this one more however, as well as the actors. While it wasn't a bad movie, I think it's kind of ******** to Reboot a series, and not really do anything to make it unique.

Even the villain was pretty much the same. Scientist injects self with Syrum that he's being pressured into making, becomes bad guy, and even talks to himself split personality style.

I liked Gwen a lot more than MJ. And I liked the actor playing Spiderman more than Toby. I liked the fact that it did a bit more with showing him getting used to his powers.

I think they did a poor job of establishing Parker is incredibly smart. If you're going to have him create his web slingers, you have to at least show that he's somewhat of a science geek, like in Raime's. They didn't do much of that in this movie. He just orders some stuff and makes web slingers, and an incredibly well tailored suit. The web slingers would have fit better with Raime's version, and the "My wrists shoot web" better in this one. That being said, the web slingers were great.

The main plotline of the villain in the movie was kind of ********. Your standard "i'm a bad guy so I'm going to do really evil things for no good reason" scenario.

Ah well, Overall a decent spiderman. A horrible Reboot though. It's really just the same thing.

Big Spidey fan here. Was nervous/hesitant/excited about the reboot. But I absolutely loved this movie. Was really, really good. The effects were top notch, and they really captured the Peter Parker character. Definite must see.

8.5/10

I'd give it a 7/10. It was pretty good, and much better than the Raimi version in many respects. The biggest problem though I think is the score. It's very lackluster.

Besides obviously being too old for the high school roles, they did well I thought.

Which is something you just have to excuse because it's a movie. Been going on for years and years and years as we all know.

Ok I took my son to see it yesterday.

As some might know from before I had mentioned I wasn't looking forward to it because I was thinking I'd really hate the storyline change.

I won't spoil anything I'll just say the storyline change wasn't as drastic as I was lead to believe it would be by the commercias and I absolutely loved this movie.

I thought it was far better than the last version and I think the new guy is a much much much better Spiderman and without a doubt a far better Parker.

I liked this quite a bit.

It was as good or better than the Sam Raimi movies. I'd say it's on par with a Thor or a Captain America.

Definitely was. I may go see it again that's how good it was. Can't wait for TDK Rises to come out. I definitely won't wait 3 days to see that film.
