Guys, we simply can not have another year with Brad Johnson on the roster. The guy never should have been brought in and should have been put out to pasture 4 years ago. Bollinger is a joke as well. We were foolish in letting Brady Quinn slip away a couple of years ago as at this point it would be nice to have a back up who could actually push Romo..or better yet push him aside.

Rhett Bomar is a possibility for a young talented upstart. There are others. Let's get the discussion going.

Thoughts?

Gee, thanks for the warm welcome. Sorry, I haven't posted around here lately, as I got tired of the "all knowing" attitude by some of the membership. I had been told things had changed. I guess I was misinformed.
Do you have anything to contribute to this post, other than insults? Suggestions on possible backups? Why don't you leave the childish insults crap with your 10 year old son. :)

Romo is the starter.....and Bomar sucks!

I'll take any of the second tier QB's that are availible and under the age of 40!

Sorry you feel that Bomar sucks. We'll have to agree to disagree.

As for Romo, well, 3 straight seasons of hapless perfomance down the stretch has convinced me there is a reason why he is an UFA. While show brilliance at times, he has not taken his game to the next level. I want someone who will push him for the starting position, not some tired retread.

Thanks for you thoughts.

No problem guy. I have a mighty thick hide, which seems to be what it takes these days to be a Cowboy fan. :laugh2:

All the best.

I'd rather go after Ricky Ray. His CFL contract should be up by now.

Havent studied all the QB's enough, but I wasnt impressed with any of those QB's in the Senior Bowl last night, incl Bomar. He was the only one who looked like he might be draftable to me, but I sill wouldnt draft him until the end of day two at the earliest, and maybe not even then.

This could be one of the worst QB drafts ever.

Whomever we get as a backup is coming from free agency.

As long as they can run Jason's offense. Which is why Bollinger is here. I haven't given up on him yet but I hope they bring someone else in here. I'll be very disappointed if they don't.

Pat White looked better than any of them. I wasn't impressed with Bomar when he was with OU and really didn't hear much about him at Sam H. I'm sure he has the tangible skills, but if we want someone to come in to push Romo, it certainly won't be someone drafted on the second day.

If we want someone to come in to push Romo, it will have to be a veteran like Fitzpatrick, Boller, etc.

I am for drafting a young QB who can sit and learn for a couple years.

If we take Quinn, we don't get Felix.

I'm more than cool with the way things worked out.

I think when it comes to Romo, what you see is what you get. He's a tease who can't win big games. His December and playoff record, with a very talented roster, speaks for itself. I understand it is not all his fault, but his "oh well wel lost but the some will come up tomorrow" attitude bugs me. Let's not forget Tom Brady was a late rounder, and Romo himself went undrafted (now I'm starting to see why).
Bomar will prove to be the real deal. Regardless, the backups we have now both must go.

What exactly do you see in Bollinger that gives you any inkling he could come in and start and win should Romo go down...or tank??? Please explain this to me.

How can you say Bomar will prove to be the real deal? What has he proven so far? He's proven he can get kicked off a heritage-rich football program. Brady was made the starter because Bledsoe got injured.

Here's a thought, since you are laying a lot of the blame for the Cowboys' misfortunes on Romo. Let's draft a stud 3-4 LB who can challenge Ware. It's obvious, with your line of thinking, that Ware (being the defensive leader on the team) is at fault for the Cowboys giving up two huge runs against the Ravens and then not being able to keep the Eagles D from scoring.

C'mon man. Give some rational thought to what you are saying. Yes, what Romo said immediately after the game was wrong. If you read the article that came out the other day, he addressed that.

I'll be the first to admit that Romo has alot of learning to do and things to improve, but really, 3 years has convinced you of anything? I could fill my entire post with HOF/HOF-Bound QBs that could only wish to have the success that Romo has had his first 3 years starting.
