I think when it comes to Romo, what you see is what you get. He's a tease who can't win big games. His December and playoff record, with a very talented roster, speaks for itself. I understand it is not all his fault, but his "oh well wel lost but the some will come up tomorrow" attitude bugs me. Let's not forget Tom Brady was a late rounder, and Romo himself went undrafted (now I'm starting to see why).
Bomar will prove to be the real deal. Regardless, the backups we have now both must go.
I agree Bomar is heads above what we have now. Can he hold the football for the kicker? I was never sure why Bollinger was ever put on the club. He could not make it for the Vikings. I am trying to be positive, any QB will be better than our backup, it was a disgrace this year.

What exactly do you see in Bollinger that gives you any inkling he could come in and start and win should Romo go down...or tank??? Please explain this to me.

I don't see anything but an arm. But Jason brought him on board for a reason. While I'm not exactly peachy keen on Jason right now, I respect him enough to think Bollinger has something going on. But I clearly stated I wanted another QB in here. And hopefully it will be a QB with at least some starts in the league who can play and/or learn Jason's defense. We need someone to run basically the same offense as Romo does without a great deal of fall off. That means a mobile QB with a good or better arm who can get the ball out there with some accuracy.

Bollinger played 2 quarters and in that time showed he was much better than Johnson. Once Brooks went in, it was time to jettison Brad, unfortunately we kept him for holding field goals. Anyone should be capable of doing that, instead of tying up a roster spot with an old man that would never see the field in any other capacity.

I'd be comfortable with BB as backup, as long as we brought in a rook to develop.

If we take Quinn, we don't get Felix.

I'm more than cool with the way things worked out.

Or we don't get Jenkins. Not too mention, even without Felix, we still would have landed Choice, which more than would have sufficed as far as I'm concerned. Especially with a Brady Quinn learning and competing in the wings for our QB position.

Really?

I would hate to have known what you thought of aikman.

What does tom brady have to do with tony romo? What does where he was drafted or signed have anything to do with right now.

Would you rather we brink in akili smith or tim couch, they were 1st rounders.

Maybe we should let stanbach move over and take snaps since romo is so bad.

Well Theeb, how many times did you see Aikman, after blowing a big game (which he seldom did), smirk, put his hat on backwards, shrug, and say "oh well, the sun will still come up tomorrow"? Hmmm?

You need to catch up and figure out that I mentioned Brady in response to another poster.

I never said Romo was "so bad". I merely stated the facts - that he has yet to prove he can win a big game in December with the playoffs on the line. What we witnessed this December was a disgrace. How about our last game at Texas Stadium? "Tinsel Town" Tony and company sure played great before a stadium that included our former greats. I question Romo's heart to play this game.

Are you saying that Tony is the sole reason for losing in December? Would Aikman have pulled these games out? Maybe Troy would have tackled a Baltimore rb?

I think Jerry made it clear that we will not be using a high draft pick on a QB. If we do draft one, it probably will not be until round 6.

I am a Bomar fan as well and I think he is the best QB in the draft class, but he will probably go in round 2. We will most likely draft someone to groom for a few years. I have targeted a few that we can get our hands on to fit that category:

Todd Boeckman
Height: 6-4 | Weight: 244 | Ohio St. Buckeyes
I think Boeckman has the physical skills to strive in a Garrett-style system, but he needs to be coached. He had a great year in 2007 for the Buckeyes but was given up on too soon in 2008, in my opinion. He has a strong arm and has a very accurate deep ball. He does a great job reading the field and finding open recievers. We can get him in free agency.

Nathan Brown
Height: 6-2 | Weight: 214 | Central Arkansas
Brown reminds me a lot of Romo. He can be a gun slinger and makes things happen. He can be forcefull at times, but also has a lot of confidence in his abilities. Will be another good QB with a few years of good coaching.

Romo needs to be McNabb'd via a Kolb'er.

No, oh brilliant one, I already stated that the blame was not solely Tinsel Town Tony's fault - we had plenty of other "celebrities" out there who shoulder as much of the blame. On both sides of the ball.
However, the QB is the offensive leader of the team - Tinsel Town Tony showed el zippo leadership qualities and played, well pretty piss poor, in many of the December games. Do you care to deny this? Get a clue.

Refreshing to read a well thought out response for a change, versus some of the smacked *** insults some around here seem to prefer when they have a differing opinion. Bomar may very well go in the 2nd. I like Brown, but he seems a bit short - of course the same thing was said about Romo.

Thanks for the solid response.

Guys, we simply can not have another year with Brad Johnson on the roster. The guy never should have been brought in and should have been put out to pasture 4 years ago. Bollinger is a joke as well. We were foolish in letting Brady Quinn slip away a couple of years ago as at this point it would be nice to have a back up who could actually push Romo..or better yet push him aside.

Rhett Bomar is a possibility for a young talented upstart. There are others. Let's get the discussion going.

Thoughts?

We havent found a QB since Aikman. What makes you think this team has the luck or good fortune to get one or a decent Back-up and I hear you about someone pushing Romo..either for better or out the door at this point. Im sure if Jerry has his way guess who will be here shortly yep.....you guessed it ......................M.VICK.

Ummm the guy just said that he would prefer Choice and Quinn. You agreed with that, now you are agreeing with me that Choice and Felix are better than Choice and Quinn...

I think you have to pick one ...
