Everyone always forgets to include Kitna in these threads. He was a good backup QB.

Signing Kitna was a good FO move even if it didn't save the 2010 season. Kitna could play. Orton could play (although not as well as Kitna). Weeden--not so much.

Ever sine Garrett took over for good in 2011 we could've had:

Andy Dalton
Colt McCoy
Russell Wilson
Nick Foles
Kirk Cousins
Landry Jones
Johnny Manziel
Derek Carr
Teddy Bridgewater
Jimmy Garapolo
AJ McCarron
Zack Mettenberger

Plus the ones you mentioned in your OP. Is not as if there's nothing out there

This list actually looks like you're making the point that there's nothing out there. Other than Dalton--who we reportedly were very high on, Wilson, Bridgewater, and Carr, that's a whole lot of nothin'.

Of course, it'd be great if we'd hit on one of those four guys.

Other than half of them? Either way, all are better than Weeden, Cassel or Moore, which was my point to the OP that there was nothing out there, excusing our sorry front office job in procuring a backup QB.

We need more than a backup. We need a defense, a running back, and a quarterback of the future that can serve as a backup.

Other than a third of them.

And better than Weeden and Cassell or Moore isn't necessarily the objective here.

Yes it is. The OP's notion there was nothing this FO could've done to address the backup position is ridiculous. We could have won at least 4 more games with a competent QB. Even Landry Jones managed to win some games. The same is true with Oswieler which I should've included in my list.

The way Johnny Manziel played today, I can't see the Browns trading him to the Cowboys.
