The Better Running Back!! MB3 or Julius?

At this point, I say don't mess with something that works.

Barber is a beast to contend with on third downs and in short-yardage situations. And Jones is averaging close to 100 yards per game as the starter.

Maybe Barber would be better starting; he's certainly a good player. But at this point, I don't want to find out because what we have is working.

When Julius gets going he's better but consitantly and short yardage and Crunch plays I have to say MArion barber.

Against Washington it was 3rd down, and boom MONEY!! MArion Barber...That should be his KNickname..Money MArion BARBEr!.

Im just sayin julius goes down with arm tackles while Barber will get positive yardage 90 percent of the time......I love the physical running Barber has to offer...

On a side note, did anyone catch Laurence Maroney (MB3's backup at UW)running for the Pats on Sunday? I believe a lot of people on the board were high on him during the draft. The guy has a similar running style to MB3, but looks even more powerful and explosive.

I say they are both outstanding but in different ways......good to have options and don't forget the power and speed of Thompson

I feel Marion Barber is the tougher, quicker, and better back in the system. How do u guys feel about to two backs??:starspin

yeah...Parcells and the rest of the coaches obviously agree...

You cannot take anyone seriously that tries to say MB is quicker.
By the way, Marooney was considered the number 1 back at UW but they bothed played a lot.

the most obvious answer is - who gets more carries overall? i think julius jones will end up with more carries, thus he's the "better" RB. i love MB also tho, and think we did very well to draft him. Parcells is a smart man...

as one guy mentioned, let us not forget T2 in this equation. did anyone else notice that it was T2 who made the short yardage TD near the goalline, zipping thru the line so quickly there was no doubt he was going to score? T2 is the speed guy, but there he was being trusted on a short TD run, and he came thru for us. i thought that was verrrrrry interesting indeed, that he got the call on that run...

That run by Tyson was pretty good. The reason he got the call was that it was late in the game and Dallas already had a big lead. Parcells wanted to get Tyson some action. There may be a time when he is needed and it was a good idea and time to get him some reps.

I do consider Barber a slight change of pace back because he does run with more power. I like them both. Julius is better and it is good to have both on the team as well as Barber.

On first and 10, I want Jujo getting the ball.

If it's 4th and goal from the 1-2 yard line, I'm giving the ball to MBIII.

We will rue the day we let Jamar Martin go.

We basically have two starting RB's which is a luxery. I think JJ would be the sexy underdog if MB was the starter getting most of the carries. It's just human nature. I think it's wonderful that we can have a discussion about who's the better back because there's very little drop off if any when MB handles the rock.

JJ seems to be more of a Dorsett like slasher. MB III is the more balanced back. They're a great combo.

I like MB3. But without that "extra-gear' that JJ brings I don't see him being superior.

How is he a change of pace he is just as fast, he is a quick back with a different running style but both can do what each other does fairly well. A change of pace back would be like having Eddie george. You go from Ferrari to Pick up truck.

maybe mb3 best runs come later in the game when the defense is already
braking down???

I didn't see the Titans game (downloading now), but I know that JJ was doing some very tough running. He broke tackles and slammed some guys. If he looked anything like that in the Titans game, he will get that elusive 1000 this year.

That being said, either can play on my team.

I like the combo just the way Parcells is using it. I like both of our backs but Jones is and should be the starting RB on this team.

Tyson Thompson may have more ability than either of them.

In time you may be right but evidently based on what Parcells is seeing at practice the 2 top backs on this team remain Jones and Barber
