No worries, when JG runs a play that works, he'll run it over and over and over until he's sure it won't ever work again.
I know you are just trying to bash Garrett but you have to make them show they can stop it. That is how you dictate to the defense.

Can we at Least get our criticisms of Red consistent? I thought the knock on him was that he always stopped doing the play that was working. Now you're saying he keeps running the same successful play until it's unsuccessful? I'm confused

Dak is superior already at running bootleg and play action- he does as good a job as any QB in the nfl hiding the football: he's a broad guy, so it almost appears his back is to the defense entirely and the ball has been handed off. This will be tougher to defend than you think moving forward- one of these times Zeke is going to spring for 60 right up the gut.

I love the bootleg even back when Staubach was running it. I think it puts pressure on defense, guys come up and leave the receiver or RB you toss it they stay back you run.

I would also add there are times when Dak is handing it off instead of play action bootleg which keeps the backside pursuit in check
Now that would keep the defense guessing.

I think Dak is doing what he needs to do at this stage of his career. He may not take the same risk that Romo would take and given the play of our defense that is not a bad thing as we have been able to control the ball and keep it away from opposing teams offense.

Just curious, when do opposing defenses key in on the bootleg? Or is our threat to run always going to keep them honest?

The bootleg works best when you have a threat in the backfield. Despite his rocky start, Zeke is considered a threat in the backfield, a threat to break the big run.

So you want as many lineman setting the edges, working down the line to make the tackle. This sets up the bootleg.

If a defense comes out playing the bootleg, you both leave a hole for the running back to exploit the guard-tackle gap as well as take one defender out of the play sliding down the line to make a tackle.

That's why you see teams not being able to defense it as well. As long as you establish your running game between the tackles, you should be okay running the bootleg.

Romo would have put up 50+ points both weeks against those defenses in those fronts.

I doubt he would have.

Unfortunately, Romo is going to be a targeted quarterback when he gets back. Defenses already know he's brittle, and they're going to be out to get him.

I think we would have scored more points, but I don't think the game plan will be to let Romo pass, pass, pass. You're basically exposing him to more hits in the pocket. And since he hangs in there until the last minute, he's bound to take a nasty shot that could lead to another injury.

Oh, against those fronts he would. He wouldn't see those fronts though every down because he'd just check into something else.

Teams have to start backing off some. Dallas isn't killing it, but 27 points is too many to give up. It almost bit New York.

You think Romo would have put up 50+ points on the Giants and the Commanders? :omg:
