Jerry Jones lets our young talent go and never replaces them with the poor comp picks given by the NFL. Some turn out to be solid starters. Look at the Bills' center, Connor McGovern, a 2019 Dallas Cowboy draft pick. He has a good chance of going to the Super Bowl. Offensive linemen sometimes need several years of grooming to become starters.
Not sure why we didn't give either of the Connors a real shot at center when they were here. Both clearly showed that they lacked great power at guard. Center is a much more protected position and players can excel there without great power.

However, we didn't keep him because he didn't show he was worth keeping for what Buffalo paid him.

Uhhh, it's because the Oline coaches here in recent years have absolutely SUCKED!

Connor McGovern
Connor Williams
Tyler Biadasz

They all had potential but were never coached up to their full potential here in Dallas... or played at their best position. As soon as they left to another team, another team's coaches immediately helped make them better. THIS has been probably the biggest problem in Dallas for the past decade or two. What affects the trenches affects the rest of the team. I wish Jerry understood this. Get better Oline and Dline coaches who actually know how to coach up players and realize where to better play them, this team would perform so much better.
Spot on to the max.
With this team, the oline coach is as important to this team succeeding as the head coach and the 2 coordinators.

Philbin was meh.
Solarski is pathetic.

I am fairly sure dallas had him at left guard the whole time, and Buffalo saw him as a center instead.
Dallas has been bad about playing guys in wrong positions.
Right now guyton was a right tackle in college, and here they have him playing left tackle.

You have to play them in the position they can do best, not just out of need.

By JAG do you mean below average? or average?

PFF (yes, I know, I am not always in agreement with their opinion either) has him rated 16th out of 60 this year. (Not sure why there wouldn't be 64 or more with enough snaps. Just reporting what the search returns)

I have watched them several times last year & this year and he's above average IMO. Someone we could have kept & spent a draft resource elsewhere.
fair enough. 16th out of 32 starters isn’t very impressive though. and certainly not enough to frame him as the lynchpin for buffalos offensive success.

Kinda wild that 60 players have taken enough snaps at center to be rated though.

I don't think the OP was necessarily saying he was the lynchpin. Just a play on words because he's a "center".

They also need the right staff to develop them and be in the right scheme as well as patience as you stated.
