How many #2 WR in this league would be productive #1s? How many could do it with the #2 QB throwing? Maybe 1 or fewer.

People gotta understand context.

Don't worry his next big game fans here will be saying lock him up now rather than wait lol!!

Disgusting it was.

This is the reason i was always down on him. I always asked "what if Dez went down?" Multiple fans on here told me we would be ok, T-Will is a legit threat. ect ect.

I need to see this.

I don't recall anyone saying he'd be a legit #1. They probably did and I don't remember it so I'll take your word for it.

My thing has always been that he's a real good #2. I've never thought of him as a #1.

Which is why I've said I don't get the hate when he's a #2.

Now obviously if Dez goes down, as he has, and you have to make your #2 a #1 then that sucks. The only way that's not a big deal is if you have two stud WR's who are both essentially #1's.

Quite bluntly I hope that Dallas NEVER puts that kind of cash into the WR spots.

Paying two WR's Dez like money just so you'll still have a superstar WR if one of them goes down just doesn't work in the long run.

Williams makes big plays in big games.

Our offense isn't designed to get the ball in a players hands so if Weeden wants to check down all day then that would be bad for Williams.

Yeah but TWill is nothing more than a 800 yd WR at BEST. He feeds off the attention Bryant's gets.

And?

We have plenty of weapons. The ball can only go to some many players over a course of a game. Last year we were a run first team that also had passing weapons like Beasley, Witten, Murray and of course Dez Bryant.

800 yards receiving slots inbetween 45th and 46th in receiving yards for the entire NFL(based off 2014 numbers). Solid numbers for a 2nd/3rd option for a team like ours.

I understand the want for a better receiver, as other teams have had two #1's or a 1 and a 1b guy over the years, but T-Will with his inconsistencies is a good #2 to have.

Where was this thread last week? T-Will had a bad game, but it's not like he got many chances to showcase his talents with Captain Checkdown.

#1, #2 or #3 doesn't matter.

Catch the damn ball.

Once you boil it down, regardless of what side of this issue you come down on, this is what it gets to.

I have no dog in this fight but if Williams can't start making catches, and lets be honest, the drops are the type that NFL WRs at any level are expected to make, then it's not likely he is long for the roster.

Twill isn't all that.. He'll drop a lot of key passes..but just when you think the game is over or our playoff life has ended, twill will toe tip a catch on a crucial 3rd down against Seattle, or take one to the house against Detroit. So yes, twill isn't all that. But in the clutch, he's pretty damn good.

Catch the damn ball.

Like the catches ol' #1 injured boy "how will I take care of my family on 13mil?" caught in the first game? On a key 3rd down? lol... Williams needs to step up no doubt, but, there is no threat there . No Romo, Bryant.. Gutless Weeden looking like a deer in the headlights? Defense showing no improvement? Carr still sucking..

Yeah, I am lookin at Williams as the problem.

Ok...that's exactly what a good #2 should get. How many #2s in the league even have over 800 yards?

Of players who had more than 600 yards receiving (Williams had 621), he had the fewest targets, at 64. Nobody else was under 70 and only 3 players were under 80. His yards per target of 9.7 is higher than or on pace with the league's elite receivers: Antonio Brown (9.3), Demarius Thomas (8.8), Julio Jones (9.7), Dez (9.6).

If you put TW in the context of guys who get the same number of targets, his numbers DWARF other WRs. Yards Per Attempt of players with similar targets: Welker (64, 7.25) D Adams (66, 6.7) C Patterson (67, 5.7) J Kearse (67, 8.0) Hartline (63, 7.5) J Wright (62, 9.5). Williams had more catches of 20+ (10) and TDs (8) than any of those guys.

On a team that runs the ball and has a stud WR and TE soaking up a lot of targets, Williams does about all you can do. He is a deep threat and is very good at it.

Other than "he's a body catcher" there is nothing to support these claims that Williams is garbage or whatever it is people are saying about him. He's not a number one, but he is a perfect fit in his role on this offense. The guy is a big play threat, and the perfect compliment to Dez. Sure, you want more consistency, but you can say that about most every WR in the league except maybe the top 10. So the whining about TWill is just that, whining. It's knee jerk and ignores ALL of the facts about his play.

So the defenders of this guy, are you all finally seeing the light? Or are we just going to blame this on weeden? I seen guys still perform with or without their star QB. Not give bagels.

Do you all still believe we do not need to upgrade? Is he still a great number 2? With the great Seattle catch and the touchdowns from last year?

He had 1 drop and 1 play where the defender got his hands on the ball to knock it down.

On the drop it was a short slant pattern and Weeden fires in an Elway/Farve type fastball that is really difficult to catch while running full speed. That ball also needs to lead him, not be right at or behind him.

The WRs were open often but Weeden would not throw to them if they were past 10 yards or near the sideline.

Him, Clutts, Free, Weeden, D-law, Hitchens, Wilcox all need to step it up this week. I'm getting sick and tired of the inconsistent play from these guys.

that list of players just made me gag a little bit haha
