The Core of this Team is Done

Man, you've got to be kidding, you're basically saying two things:

1- Coaching doesn't matter
2- garrett is as good as Harbaugh

That's ridiculous.

I agree, they act as if JG has no say in this thing. The difference "could" be Romo would be stripped of audible authority when he gets too cocky, Witten would be most likely be replaced with a cheaper more athletic option (loyalty?), and Ware would be "drilled" when he loses contain in practice, not "implied to take a better angle", etc. It is all coaching culture or "styles" if you don't want to call out JG on his complete incompetence.

Of course talent matters and we do have it, we just don' have a good HC, try telling that to KC, SF, Chi, NO, AZ, Sea, Cle, NYJ etc..

Is that why we physically couldn't keep up with those teams?

This is just so hilarious and the stench of hypocrisy is strong... I thought the team fights for Garrett.. Now, it's the players fault for giving up on him? Lol....

I might agree with you, but I have never taken the Garrett is a competent coach/the team fights for Garrett position.

ITT: Garrett fanboy wants our best players gone so a new coach can't come in and win with them, thus showing how mediocre/bad RJ was.

That's just sad.

I said last off season....the Tony Romo extension was the final blow........Jerry is gonna wish 500% was the norm...2 more years before the real pain.....@ least we get out of the never ending cycle of middle round draft picks!!!!

I'd get Witten, Ware and Austin out of here and I'd get a QB in the draft to start learning behind Romo.
We saw the core's effect on Dez tonight. He restrained himself much more and looked to put on the 'acceptable' look when getting beat down. Instead of being animated or angry, he had a facial expression of, "Whatever." The nonchalance to losing attitude is starting to rub off on him. I really don't want any of that spreading. I much prefer seeing animated Dez or angry Demarco sitting there. I don't want a team of guys who have no real emotions to losing.

I was ridiculed - years ago - for saying that there was something wrong with the "core."

Any time Romo's name is mentioned, there's a deluge of stats…best 4th Quarter QB, ever. Top 5 QB Rating, Most yards in 100 games, most "clutch" QB, and on and on and on.

Witten #2 TE all time. Future Hall of Famer.

Ware… Cowboys All time sack leader, All-time Top 10 in sacks, etc. Future HOFer.

These were also the same players that led the give-up on Wade. They were on the field for 44-6. Minnesota and Giants Playoffs. Etc.

As tyke said, the "core" really only knows personal stats and a losing team culture which they helped to foster.

Great personal stats. Minimal team success.

Everyone wanted them to be leaders, but aside from their play, they just aren't/weren't - no matter how badly some want them to be.

It's not totally there fault, of course, but 15-20 years from now, they will be the poster children for the worst era in Cowboys history.

here is what will be even more disgusting. Romo, WItten and Ware will probably be in the Ring of Honor. And I will feel NOTHING when I see there names if they exit Dallas with one playoff win. Has anyone in the Ring Of Honor had so little playoff success?

I'm as big a Parcells homer as there was on this board, but I think Bill was tired and burnt at the end. I don't think we would have gotten there with him.

He admitted this during his interview at the HOF game. He said the fumbled FG snap broke him completely

I can't gaze into an alternate dimension but I think that if Parcells had stayed we would have eventually won it all.

If Parcells would have taken his ego and his "better than though" attitude home when he was supposed to, Sean Payton is our coach now. But no way. He contemplated retirement. He was basically telling Jerry to hire Payton, and Jerry was too dumb to realize it. I hated Parcells and his whole entourage. But he almost did one thing right. He tried to step away, but our owners were too dumb to realize that Sean Payton was the mind of the team and the whole reason Dallas was incredible on offense and made Parcells stay.

The core of this team has been done. That interception against Washington should've been the last straw for Romo, instead they reward this guy with a $108 million dollar extension. Look at the Texans, 2 straight years with 10+ wins and at the first sign of a major stepback they throw Schuab's sorry behind in the bushes. Meanwhile we're 9 years into this thing headed for a 3rd straight 8-8 season.

Bingo. We could have traded Romo for a first round draft pick in 2014 and went and signed a QB like Alex Smith and then went for a franchise QB in the 2014 draft. Instead we reward the guy with a 108m contract and he is nothing more than a born choker. I love the guy off the field but he just doesn't have what it takes to lead his team anywhere.

We could have also traded Spencer, Ware, Witten, etc. We could have started rebuilding the right way but the truth is Jerry is just too loyal to his players. He falls in love with them and gets emotionally attached instead of making BUSINESS decisions. This is why our team remains in mediocrity. Then the new talent we bring in get tainted by the "vets" who are USED to losing.

49ers went 7-9, 8-8 and 6-10 three seasons before Harbaugh got there. He took them to the NFC championship game in his first season with pretty much the same players and then to the SB his second year.

I believe Harbaugh would have done a ton better than JG.

Harbaugh would never take a job under Jerry Jones ... never. Frankly any coach worth anything will stay as far away from this franchise as possible until Jerry steps away as the GM.

I hope not they are not worthy, good players but NO WAY ring of honor worthy.

Witten and Ware are worthy. both Hall of Famers

everyone has there opinion....IMO if Charles Hayley is not in the Hall of Fame, I don't see DWARE getting in....Haley was a difference maker for Super Bowl teams, has more Rings than any NFL player and earned everyone of them... DWARE was good, and has been great but if he does get in the HOF, it will take a long, long time. Dont get me wrong, love to see him and any Cowboy make it, but I am just looking at the reality of things....to many good DE/OLB waiting to get in.

Haley would destroy QBs in this era...
