The Cost of Meaningless Close Wins

If those meaningless wins gave the locker room even a small amount of confidence in MM, then all fine.

I think it did.

I personally dont mind that we aren't picking higher because I don't want this year's TJ Hockensen.

Jerry wouldn't have taken the haul, he would have drafted the jersey seller and dreamed of plums or whatever.

So the season was not done until Daks injury in teh Giants game. So start tanking in week 2.?

Dallas hasn't had a chance at going to the sb since 07. I get that gives them better draft picks. But makes no sense saying winning is pointless imo

You play to win the game!! Unless the next Lebron or Elway is in play.

The Cowboys should have lost their games against Atlanta (week 2), the Giants (week 5), and the Vikings (week 11). The Cowboys could of had the 3rd overall pick. They could have received the same haul the Dolphins did for the 3rd pick. In this scenario Surtain or Horn would likely be available at 12. Plus they would have 2 extra 1st round picks + an extra 3rd round pick in the future. They could have also selected a QB at 3 and trade Dak. A ridiculous botched onside kick + signing Andy Dalton cost this franchise for years to come.
bull.

Mic drop!

We go through this every year and instead of drastically improving the roster some rather win those crap games that never amount to anything. Just stuck in the mud.

specially under Jason Garrett. He was the master of the crap win.

Any fan that wishes their team loses should be banned from ever watching another game of that team, in any sport.. PERIOD. it's disgusting.
This is exactly it. It is not fun to watch a team not fight to win no matter what happens later.

The Cowboys should have played all out to win those games.
With 3rd stringers and practice squad players.
Is that really going all out to win, or that sugar coating the obvious?
Might as well forfeit outright. No one is blind.

So, a new coach, who has won a Super Bowl and is trying to create a winning tradition should purposely lose games? Do you know how absurd that sounds>

Here's the problem with not trying to win. First it violates an NFL rule but more importantly there have many former and current players around the league that have said that they wouldn't want to play on a team that isn't trying to win. Some fans think it's OK to intentionally lose games but that's why they sit on their couches and don't play the game. I remember an interview with Emmitt back ia fewn years ago where he was asked if as a rookie or after if the Cowboys ever overtly tried to lose any games and he said if they did the players would be so mad that they would have demanded a trade or played out their contracts and moved on to another team.

They don't care. It's not like it's their job on the line, or anything.
They want that sweet, sweet draft pick. To hell with everything else.

No such thing as meaningless wins!!! You must be one of those tank fans! Lol!!!
There are no meaningless wins. Even ONE playoff appearance can be TREMONDOUSLY important.

People act like a Sunday game is 3 hours of their time. Okay sure. But's HUNDRENDS of hours or practice time, technical time, preparing, planning, film, weights, drills, medicals...and on and on.

Every game matters. Every win is more than just a toast by fans after their 3 hours of entertainment. A shot at a playoff game...which we HAD....is many times more than that.

I hate these "let's lose" awhores.

Get off my team.

Team still losing? Worst D in history? People talk about building a championship team through the draft. But somehow find draft position unimportant. The funny thing is those same people are probably willing to trade up while burning multiple picks in the process. Team just stays stuck in neutral and can't put a finger on the problem.

It's not about the 2020 season, it's a systematic issue. People think this is about going out and purposely whiffing on tackles etc. LOL But really it's about getting the younger guys involved. Guys who will likely have a larger role the following season. Yet it's this same stupidazz argument every year. If you're out of the playoffs.. the team needs to be doing everything they can to get back there. That is the business they're in. Race for the trophy is a year round endeavor and this team can't get their hands on it. And not taking draft position seriously is certainly a big reason for that.
