The Country music thread

Best country singer in my book.. there will never be another Keith Whitley.

Not really a Country Fan. There are a few artist I can listen to but for the most part not a fan.
HOWEVER...for some reason I used to love the old trucker songs. I think we had an 8 track of them way back in the day.

and two movie ones...

Well, came home tonight expecting to work on my fantasy football before the weekend. Instead, caught this story about a Miranda Lambert concert and a little girl fighting cancer and she could not finish the song. I don't cry much at all but I shed some tears here.........

I have a new-found respect for that woman, always heard that she was down to earth and this proves it for me.

Just saw Jason Aldeen and Florida Georgia Line in concert in VA Beach. New age country is not really my thing, but they both put on a great show and I had a blast at the show.

I have been a big fan of Keith Whitley for many, many years. He was a great song writer and it's a damn shame he was gone so soon. I guess you gotta be pretty tortured to be able to write like that. It's a blessing and a curse I suppose.

I've seen Aldean...he's not the greatest musician in the world, and doesn't even write his own stuff. But he definitely puts on a show. Him, Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, Dierks Bentley, and Luke Bryan are all a lot of fun, even though I don't think their music is that great.

I won't do the YouTube clips so that the thread can load a little faster...

I prefer the older country to the newer more "popish" country.

Loved "The Three Bells" by the Browns when I was a kid. The first country song ever to reach #1 on both the Country and Hot 100 charts.

Marty Robbins "El Paso". Love hearing this one even today.

"Wolverton Mountain" which was the #1 country song the day I was born. BTW, there's a great story behind the song, but you'll have to look it up.

"Ode To Billy Joe"– I never tire of listening to this one.

"I Never Promised You A Rose Garden"– Lyn Anderson was terrific. I'm sorry that she's had such a tough life over the last few years.

Anything by Cash is pretty quality stuff. He was a real cool guy who lead an interesting life. Who couldn't like "Folsom Prison Blues?"
