Nailed it. They blamed Romo for every loss in addition to pretty much blaming him for everything from inflation to cancer. You know it’s funny in 2016 no one had a problem with Dak playing out the season after the good start even when TR came back at the end of the season. Jerry saw a way to justify cutting TR and JG was happy with that decision. They had a QB on the cheap and a good team but they knew there was no way Dak was beating out Romo for the starting job, just another bad decision by the FO to protect Dak feelings instead of letting him learn for a year or two behind a good QB.

I don’t think you are thinking this through. You used resources on Lance. Dak was on the last year of his contract. Russell signed a one year prove it deal to rejuvenate his career that took a dive. So I get your hindsight thinking here but not sure it’s actually realistic.
