Cowboys fans don't like it, but Barry was better than Emmitt.

If Barry didn't decide to just walk away he becomes the NFL's first and only 20,000 yard rusher easy. Emmitt himself has admitted that.

I would argue the reason Emmitt is the better back is the reason Sanders walked away: Endurance. Sanders tired of the game; Emmitt did not.
Sure, Sanders was quicker, shiftier, faster, etc.
But Sanders made himself non-available by calling it quits when he still had something left in the tank and a goal to achieve. Emmitt stayed to reach that goal.
As the saying goes, the best ability is availability.

I heard the guys on 105.3 taking about this last week. The Rams have been good/lucky with the picks that they have used this strategy to obtain. They moved Goff and Gurley at the right time. But their real profit here is signing guys who still have gas in the tank.

Their signing of Cupp reveals the voidable years in his contract, and they will jettison him before he becomes a burden.

Now ask yourself this. Do you believe the brain trust with the Cowboys can execute this tactic, and know exactly when to pull the trigger on a player to ease him on down the road?

The downside of this is when they hold on to a player **cough - Lawrence** far too long and get stuck with his dwindling talent.

I love Zeke, but he and Tank are the antithesis of this strategy, which reveals neither Jethro nor Little Enos could pick their noses with the instructions tattooed on their thumbs.

Enjoy the article. Dallas is not the Rams.

I mean they just did it with Coop, to a lesser extent w/ La'el. They did it with Dez. They played relative hardball w/ Tank and came to a mutually agreeable solution. Also Tank looked phenomenal last year. Held on too long?

Taking an rb later in the 1st isn’t bad. Picking one in the top 5 is the issue.

i mean we're talking zeke, mccaffrey, saquon, edwards-helaire vs derick henry, jonathan taylor, nick chubb, joe mixon, alvin kamara, dalvin cook, aaron jones etc. first round is not wise

sure you do  if zeke was gone you be gone for 6 months from the board in mourning
You only ever respond to me in zeke or romo threads. I have others. You ignore them...

But I was at least half serious. Bickering and complaining about a player and his wished for sht-canning...is still a foreign thing to me...even after all these years on the message boards.

"better"? At going sideways and backwards. If you add up all the dance yards.....probably 30,000.

And no...that team was not as bad as people say.

Jethro is likely going to keep Elliott and try to get him to 12,000 career yards which is almost certain HOF induction.

For our ownership it’s better to be right than win. Lol
I really, really, really hope you're wrong, but I can't put this past certain people that make the decisions in Dallas.

Do we go from "we are lucky to have him" to cutting him in under a year? If so, they lie. If not, they are football morons. Could go either way for obvious reasons....they are both.

He'll get 1,000, if he's healthy, they'll run him into the ground with 300+ carries.

Hopefully!

If anyone actually pays attention...you give zeke 15-18 carries a game. Any power back gets that. Check Emmitt's number.

I remember the day CowboyRoy put me on ignore. He said (a few years ago) Zeke was only rushing champ because of carries. I showed him Emmitt's carries and BLAM...ignore.

Give Emmitt 10-12 carries a game and see what happens. 20 carries a game? Isn't that many for a power back. only FIVE CARRIES a qtr! . They need to bash people up before they get their groove.

Anyone that wants fewer surely hoping for zeke demise.

Fix the dman o-line
Design a serious NFCE run game....not NCAA Mountain West passing game.

Watch both zeke and tony KILL it.

you must have very low standards to claim tank had a phenomenal year.

he only played in like 6 games. I didn't say "had a phenomenal year" I said "looked phenomenal" that's not low standards, it's cognitive abilities.

Demarcus Lawrence in the run game

You likely don't need the same convincing for his defense against the run as his pass-rushing ability. But in case you are not aware that Lawrence might be one of the best run-stuffing DEs in the NFL, let's make the case.

To start, here is his ranking against the run since 2015, according to PFF:

  • 2021: 1st

Agree.

He's been good for Parsons. And Parsons has been good for DLaw.

I love watching them play together.

He has grown fat and injury-prone.

No.

Other than the suspension year he's played in 62 of the last 64 games. Fat? "Jul 23, 2021 · He’s down to 218 pounds, a weight he hasn’t been at since his freshman year at Ohio State."

You weren't fooled by Ron Leary coming on the field before one game in Zeke's jersey, were you? Lots of people were.

Yes he gets beat up during the season, but that's normal for a power back, "injured" is a different thing.

Criticize him where it's warranted, but don't make stuff up.
