Jerry should fire his GM (himself) and pay the Rams GM whatever he wants. Clearly they are playing 3 dimensional chess and Jerry and Stephen are playing pocket pool

he only played in like 6 games. I didn't say "had a phenomenal year" I said "looked phenomenal" that's not low standards, it's cognitive abilities.

Demarcus Lawrence in the run game

You likely don't need the same convincing for his defense against the run as his pass-rushing ability. But in case you are not aware that Lawrence might be one of the best run-stuffing DEs in the NFL, let's make the case.

To start, here is his ranking against the run since 2015, according to PFF:

  • 2021: 1st

DeMarcus Lawrence back to old dominance on best Dallas Cowboys defense of his career

Meh. 6 games MEAN NOTHING. Only idiots extrapolate that over a season.
Or agents.
So which are you?

Other GMs have to win games and contend.

I’m not so sure they let go of Zeke after this season. Not because of production, but because of marketing. He and Dak came in together. I see another Dlaw type redo if he has a decent year.

i mean we're talking zeke, mccaffrey, saquon, edwards-helaire vs derick henry, jonathan taylor, nick chubb, joe mixon, alvin kamara, dalvin cook, aaron jones etc. first round is not wise

There are usually 2-3 Miles Sanders, Swift, Edwards-Helaire, Antonio Gibson, Pollard, etc. available every year around the 2nd round or later. These are all extremely talented players you can feature as part of a RB rotation

Fair enough. Terms? Or just friendly
It don't matter either way.

I mean I guess I could put something in my signature like "I didn't think Zeke would ever rush for a 1,00 yards again. Phildadon86 was right" or something like that and you do the opposite.

I don't know where the "ever again" comes into this though. I mean are we gonna really wait until he retires before one of us wins or loses? lol

Honestly I think he gets 1000 this year.

Unfortunately that also means Pollard will be underutilized yet again.
Maybe if we get the Eagles practice squad again in the last game so we can play our starters so they can reach milestones.

You're right about Pollard. They have no idea how to use him.

I heard the guys on 105.3 taking about this last week. The Rams have been good/lucky with the picks that they have used this strategy to obtain. They moved Goff and Gurley at the right time. But their real profit here is signing guys who still have gas in the tank.

Their signing of Cupp reveals the voidable years in his contract, and they will jettison him before he becomes a burden.

Now ask yourself this. Do you believe the brain trust with the Cowboys can execute this tactic, and know exactly when to pull the trigger on a player to ease him on down the road?

The downside of this is when they hold on to a player **cough - Lawrence** far too long and get stuck with his dwindling talent.

I love Zeke, but he and Tank are the antithesis of this strategy, which reveals neither Jethro nor Little Enos could pick their noses with the instructions tattooed on their thumbs.

Enjoy the article. Dallas is not the Rams.

So true.
In the article they speak of the Cowboys and Rams, and mention the GIants as a franchise that overvalues it's own talent. Sadly, we are much closer to the Giants than the Rams (management wise).

I agree.
1000 yards is not what it used to be, just average 59 yards per game for 17 games.
You're also right about Pollard. He is a unique talent, and exactly the type needed to today's league. He is a play maker.
Look at how Samuel and Kamara are used.
I'd put Pollard all over the field. In the backfield, motion him into the slot. Get him on a LB in the open field.
But we keep pounding it inside with Zeke, time and time again.
I respect Zeke. He's a warrior. His blocking on blitzes is amazing. But at this point in his career, he's a battering ram. A 3rd or 4th rounder could give us what he does (at a FRACTION of the cost).
And I agree Jerry will extend him, ala DLaw, (and pat himself on the back the whole time).
I recall the line from Jerry Maguire, spoken by Bob Sugar, "It ain't show friends, it's show business".
The Rams understand this, the Jones', not so much.

I think the RB position is just not as important as it has been in the past. Therefore, teams should not allocate as much CAP to the position. The $18 million CAP his for Zeke should be for the entire RB squad. If you have a good offensive line, finding productive RBs in the 3rd and 4th round is not that difficult. I thought the same thing when the Cowboys drafted Zeke, and when the Giants drafted Saquon Barkley.

extrapolate? are you dense? i said he looked great (he did), I never said, inferred, intimated or extrapolated anything towards an entire season. Just that he played really well, despite breaking his foot and hasn’t been held on to too long as of yet, He will be a valuable piece of the defense next season and at a reasonable rate. In short, you are a moron
