The Cowboys can afford to re-sign their own but should they?

They're pretty much screwed because this thing is maxed in its current form already.

Salaries for NFL players are never going to go down. It will only get worse and worse. Every team has to pay guys big money. Much easier for folks when the guys they pay make it deep in the playoffs though but that's not many.
Rookie contracts are scaled, in favor of the owners.

2nd contracts/UFA are where players make their money.

Don’t feel sorry for the owners.

Look at what they are paying CD, Parsons, and Diggs right now.

Pennies.

Lesson:

Look at what happened to Tony P…

He was playing under a worthless contract.

His leg is wrecked and he’s UFA.
He played under his rookie contract that every rookie plays under thought. Even if you extend a player, it doesn’t kick in until AFTER year 4

Pollard has likely played his last game in Dallas.

Unlikely unless it’s with a Tag.

#ZekeHaters want to run Zeke out, and leave us with a scrub RB.

No it's not sustainable, so it's funny when ppl lose their minds when someone suggest trading Diggs or moving on from Prescott when his deal is over.

CeeDee n Micah are the players who will be here, so sign them and let the others go.

For starters, I don’t touch Dak Prescott’s contract. Leave bad enough alone and reserve the option to get out of it in 2025. That gives me some wiggle room for huge deals like Micah’s.

Secondly, it’s not a foregone conclusion for me that I’m absolutely paying to keep Diggs. His end of the season and offseason news are giving me doubts that he’s the safest of investments.

Thirdly, while I tend to think we will re-sign Lamb, it’s also not a lock for me, given trends and a steady influx of talent at that position.
Agree with your first two points.
Iffy about your last one.

Now I'm not a numbers guy but this doesn't seem sustainable. This can not happen.

How do you handle this? Or do you think a competitive team can be put on the field with 4 players taking up over 40% of your cap space?

It's called the cap goes up every year that's how

Lamb is a glorified #1 WR for 20 million hmmm ya I don't think so.
Dak and Zeke put them on the same train and say GOODBYE!
Diggs same boat as Lamb (Not an island) but knowing our Jones boys they will be paid top-tier cap cash.

Pay Micah.

Zeke is a scrub at this point, what does he do so great other than pass block? And btw I like Zeke, but all he is now is a way overpaid fullback.

Dak's not going anywhere so might as well get ready for his extension and hope Dumb & Dumber spend the cash it frees up wisely
