They are businessmen. Jerry built the brand, got his rings and his HOF jacket. I don’t like it as a fan, but he’s near the end and has decided to milk the franchise for all it’s worth. Fortunately the kids will prob sell soon after Jerry dies.
What is your evidence that they will probably sell ?

All this is mute if Dak performs like his salary dictates in the postseason instead of like Mark Sanchez

I hope so, that would be awesome

Stephen is stuck trying to build a team the way the Patriots used to do it. Resign your own players and spend very little on FAs. No doubt some of this thinking is his way of not making a huge mistakes like Jerry did.
Problem is we don't have Bill Belichick and Tom Brady. Arguably the greatest head coach and QB of all time

I doubt it. He has not been as good as we need him to be, but neither has this defense. Both need to happen if we have any chance of ever getting over the hump. I personally think Dak is who he is. A Russell Wilson type. They went to 2 Super Bowls and won 1 with him. But it also took the Legion of Boom and a Marshawn Lynch led running game and Pete Carroll as head coach. We ask Dak to do more because we don't have that type of defense, running game and head coach.

Totally agree. His son will want his gold jacket like the father got. He will need to make sure he positions himself as a football guy to get it. So it will be more of the same once the father is gone. Maybe worse.

His son isn't getting one, not at this rate. He will have to completely change how he does things. Our only hope is he's bad enough to change.

The franchise is at peak value. Stephen offers very little in the sense of marketability of the team. He’s not going to be able to get the same returns his daddy got and is less of a football guy than Jerry and not a quarter of the business man. Even if he thinks he has what it takes, Charlotte and Jerry Jr aren’t going to sit around and lose market share when we all know Stephen doesn’t have what it takes to win.

The fans don’t like Stephen. Stephen won’t have near the pull in the league as Jerry. The players and agents don’t even like Stephen. I think Stephen will take the money and run as he should.

Interesting but fair point. Stephen Jones without Jerry could be a disaster. As much fun as it is to rag on Jerry he is still very well respected to this day around the league.

The problem is "bad enough" will be dictated by the balance sheet. If being 1 of 2 teams to not make the NFC title game in 30 years has not motivated them to change...how can the on field performance get any worse? 3 straight 5-11s? We did that and STILL thrived...we have proven that we make money better than anyone else without having to win!

Bobby Wagner comes to mind. That one REALLY bothers me. Especially when we paid Jaylon Smith....

Another recent one is Derrick Henry. Why are we bringing Zeke (who I loved) back and why is Trey Lance here. Henry could be had for what we are paying both players.

I bring up those 2 because both are on RECORD about the Dallas situation. What Dallas wanted to pay them was criminal...which just means they did not really want them. In fact, I think both have stated that there was little to no dialogue and I think it was because of money. But Henry thought the marriage would have been perfect...and Quinn wanted Wagner. I believe Wagner went on to make All Pro. Not Pro Bowl....but All Pro!!!!!!!! We will see what Henry does.
Both would have been great moves last year. We all could see it. Why can’t they?

Peak value? I’ll bet it continues to rise. But ok I’m counting on you being right. Don’t let me down.

They’ve been one of or the most popular team since the 70’s. I’m not sure they need advertising.

I said in another thread they don't like to make obvious moves because that does not fuel Jerry. He is a wildcatter....he likes to drill for oil....he likes to look like a mad scientist or ingenious. He likes the "art of the deal"..he likes to make something work that everyone thinks can't work...in a nutshell....he is a narcissist of the highest order.

Agreed, but I think SJ will be considerably worse than daddy. If that is the case I don't believe this fan base will tolerate another 5-11 dynasty.

We're further removed from success now and have been "hanging by the rim" too long to go backwards.

Revenue will take a hit at some point. Besides that I'm making a ton of assumptions on SJ. Hopefully he's just different and knows when to say when.

This cash number is pretty silly. It will go up and down.
And it is not just money spent on players (which they basically always max out on - like every team is required to do).
It has been 11 years of them being at the bottom, that is not moving up and down, it is a trend.
