I do not think they really wanted to keep those players. But that is just my opinion.
What has any of those players done on their new teams?
Just looking at Jones as an example, there is no doubt in my mind that they would have loved to keep him instead of spending all of the time, effort and draft picks that they have used trying to replace him. Letting Jones walk created a big hole CB which they have not filled with anybody on Jones’ level at this point. I don’t think that it matters how the Jones has played with other teams. When he was allowed to walk, he was playing very well. If he had remained in Dallas, it was entirely possible that Jones could have maintained his level of play. There has always been fans that say the team really didn’t want to keep players that they couldn’t afford. The truth is that the salary cap has limited the signings by the Cowboys. It has limited the team so much that it is a yearly dumpster dive to sign even average free agents.

See the thing I remember is the coaching staff at the time and Jerry and Stephan talking about how we needed more turnovers ...... I was not surprised when they did not sign him.

I am happier with what we got now.

But I refuse to take up for the Jones boys ....... their stupidity is the reason the star has lost its luster.

I thought Gallup would be my choice. I'd make Conner Williams play out the season.
Agreed, especially with Williams injury history (has started over 75% of snaps only 1 of the last 4 years and had at least 3 knee surgeries in that timespan)
Connor Williams is more valuable than Gallup in my opinion. Much harder to find starting caliber OL than 2nd or 3rd WRs.
No this is wrong. Gallup isn't just some random 2nd or 3rd WR, he's considered one of the best #2 WRs in football and would sign for over 15 million dollars a year if he had been available as a free agent in March. Also kinda ironic to say harder to replace when Williams backup (McGovern) is not a huge drop-off and he's literally on our bench........ (where's these #2 WRs of ours that are riding the bench ?)
Gallup will certainly sign a bigger contract than Williams will because he will be viewed as a definite #2 by a team. So Gallup could potentially bring a 3rd rounder as a free agency loss. If Cooper has a year that is below par or has injuries again, Cowboys have to consider letting him walk next year, and if they do, it would be nice to have Gallup back. Williams has to sign a deal that is team friendly to be back. He is an average to slightly, and I mean very slightly, above average guard.
Yeah no disrespect to Willams but he's an injury prone slightly above average Guard that has a solid backup option behind him. That's not the same caliber as a stout highly ranked #2 WR

Gallup is a shiny WR. Certainly worth 20 million per year. No O lineman can impact a game like a WR. Jerry said so. Or maybe it was no O lineman can sell jerseys like a WR. I forget.

Only one I know of that would have made a difference on a team winning or losing was Brady ....... high price free agents are a waste of money unless you are keeping your own.
what a silly post
