Just looking at Jones as an example, there is no doubt in my mind that they would have loved to keep him instead of spending all of the time, effort and draft picks that they have used trying to replace him. Letting Jones walk created a big hole CB which they have not filled with anybody on Jones’ level at this point. I don’t think that it matters how the Jones has played with other teams. When he was allowed to walk, he was playing very well. If he had remained in Dallas, it was entirely possible that Jones could have maintained his level of play. There has always been fans that say the team really didn’t want to keep players that they couldn’t afford. The truth is that the salary cap has limited the signings by the Cowboys. It has limited the team so much that it is a yearly dumpster dive to sign even average free agents.I do not think they really wanted to keep those players. But that is just my opinion.
What has any of those players done on their new teams?
