Notice they have NOT approached either player about restructuring.......

BTW.....So if Jaylon has season-ending injury that requires rehab into 2022, his 2022 salary becomes guaranteed?

If he is injured on the football field, or performing football activities, and unable to pass a physical, they would be on the hook for his 2022 salary. It's why I would have cut him after camp this year, and taken the pain in 2021.

His 2020 film also gave a great indication.

Here's where/what they can cut from next year's team to get under the cap:

Currently, as it sits, they are 10M and change over the 2022 cap.

DeMarcus Lawrence - if they cut him, they will avoid his 19.5M salary, but will eat 19M in dead money.
Amari Cooper - if they cut him before the 5th day of the 2022 league year, they will avoid his 20M salary, but will eat 6M in dead money.
La'el Collins - if they cut him before the 5th day of the 2022 league year, they will avoid his 10M salary, but will eat 13.95M in dead money.
Tyron Smith - if they cut him, they will avoid his 13.5M salary, but will eat 12.015M in dead money.
Jaylon Smith - if they cut him before the 5th day of the 2022 league year, they will avoid his 9.2M salary, but will eat 6.8M in dead money.
Anthony Brown - if they cut him, they will avoid his 5M salary, but will eat 1.5M in dead money.

Ezekiel Elliott cannot be cut next year. His 2022 salary fully guaranteed this March. If they cut him, they eat 30M in dead money. Zero relief.

One other note on Jaylon Smith - his salary is guaranteed for 2022 for injury, and fully guarantees on the fifth day of the league year. They would have been advised to have cut him this year to eat the dead money now, and avoid the possibility of another 9.2M salary guaranteeing if he has a season ending injury.

The places to look for relief next year are Cooper, Jaylon Smith and Brown. The others offer little overall relief.
How do June 1st cuts play into this?

Hm, that's an interesting dynamic I wasn't aware of. I don't want him to play but he is certainly better depth than we would ever have normally. Hopefully he will stay on the bench and not get injured but it's the first logical reason I've heard for cutting him in 2021.

All you do every day when you’re not benched is trashing Dak or someone. Every post every thread. That makes you a hater. You are what you are.

My guess is you simply post stuff like this using hater and troll is only to feed your loyal minions their daily need for your BS while in some convoluted way trying to make yourself important to those in this group.....but the truth is you aren't important as if you left today you would not be missed. Enjoy your day.

The WFT did this with Robert Griffin during his last year in Washington. He was inactive for the entire season in 2015 to ensure that his 2016 salary didn't guarantee.

Yes, 13-3 is winning and was accomplished 5 years ago. Since then this team has gone 33-31 just like in the 6 seasons prior to going 13-3 the team went 56-50. Since 2010 Dallas has had 4 winning seasons in 11 seasons......again, that could be why some members have a level of frustration in their approach to Dallas.
Well, they are favored to win the division this year. Maybe, just maybe some of them can quit crying.

You do understand that when you restructure to create cap space it generally means you have a cap issue? So while I don't think we are in cap Hell personally, this hurts your argument, it doesn't help it
Hopefully they just roll this space forward and then the math basically works out the same as if they don't kick this unnecessary money into outer years.

This is misleading because it is a frozen point in time and will certainly change a lot, but just to show where we are cap wise as we sit here today look at all teams for 2023. No team is within $50M of us:

Blah blah blah....my point proves what most educated Football fans already know....

Cap Hell is a myth. Smart GMs and Honest Owners know how to maneuver the cap like they did with Dak, Romo, Zach, Tyron, DLaw etc....

Dumb fans (e.g. Dak Haters), Dumb GMs and Cheap Owners spew the Cap Hell Myth....

They have been proven wrong over and over again on everything with Dak. The poor little trolls arent man enough to admit they were wrong about it all.
They ought to look at the other teams in the division that are totally screwed because they don't have a qb.

So kicking more money down the road is a good thing? Okay.
Yes...."Kicking more money down the road" aka Restructuring Contracts is a tool used by Smart GMs and Owners.

Dumb fans are gullible enough to believe in Cap Hell.

Look at Wentz and Goff....according to you Dak Haters those teams should not be competitive.....:lmao2:

The timing of this is weird. No apparent reason unless they plan on signing someone long term like Gallup or Williams.

You think so? Please name all of the huge high priced free agents we signed in the last 10 years. Now why is it we haven't been able to sign any?

There certainly won’t be any shopping spree. By the way things look, it will be a mass exodus instead. We’re set up to likely lose the entire 2018 draft class, and THEN SOME.
Hopefully this last class can replace them as well as next class

They all said Dak was an inaccurate, bus driving backup that couldn’t throw the deep ball.

They were all dead wrong. Not even close

Whether or not they’re up to it, we have little choice. But I don’t think they have the sheer numbers to replace all of them, to say nothing if the quality.

Wonder if this is about carryover or potentially improving the roster now.

Could essentially be both. The funds are available IF we needed to make a roster move, but can carry over to help with next year's roster.
