I hear ya. I'm not a fan of RJ. Too inconsistent and sucks at short yardage situations. With enough carries he might break a decent run but otherwise sucks. I'd rather give an unproven guy a chance.

Fine with me, hey if our rookie out plays him, he can go

I get that sentiment. He gave his all for the team and played hurt which hurt his value
But with pollard on the tag and coming off injury I’d add a RB who can help on ST. Be nice if he had return skills but mostly a guy you think can really contribute if pollard isn’t signed
I think he makes a nice complement to Pollard. Elliott does some things well that Pollard doesn’t. Specifically short yardage power runs and pass protection.

And in my opinion, Kellen Moore’s finesse running game didn’t do a power back any favors. I think he would fare better under the Schottenheimer/Solari style run game.

Not surprised at all .........said it in another thread. We as cans can say all we want about and a lot would be true but to Jerry and Stephen, he's an legend.

The Cowboys didn’t offer Ezekiel Elliott a reduced deal to avoid “insulting” him

Still would not take him back. That way we can fill his spot in the draft.

They should just let him walk and be over with.

I don’t doubt there is some value to having him. He’s really good around the goal line. I just think you need to look down the road farther and cover you bases if pollard isn’t extended
I’d draft a RB though not at 26

Yeah, one wouldn't want to insult the overpaid declining commodity running back......I'm insulted the Cowboys selected him in the first round 4th overall in a league where Running backs have become less of a value position and then caved to his contract demands with a year left on his contract.....

And a 5th year option lol. I respect how they handle departing legends. From Emmitt, TO, Dez, Zeke etc they have always attempted to do it with class. Clearly they have their faults, but this was a good choice and he needed to go.

Believe you’re interpreting this wrong…they didn’t offer him a deal because they wanted him gone. They wanted to move on. They say publicly that it’s not to insult him because it’s good pr. It’s not because they “think he’s a legend”
There's no question they wanted him gone...........that's obvious but he was a special player to Jerry, Stephen, and the organization, similar to Witten or Emmitt. Look for Tyron Smith and Zack Martin to receive similar treatment. A lot different when they moved on from Dez for example.

Pretty much a bunch of half truths to most of your points there.

I want to know where is the poster that told me not if zeke signs but when somewhere, and for decent money. He still available and he may not sign anywhere if it happens maybe it’s June.

Why do you think he is good around the GL?

I agree completely. Even if they did bring Zeke back, it would just be for this year with the rookie sending them both packing in 2024.

He was 3rd in the league in rushing TD last year
So what? He was spoon fed tons of carries inside the 5 yard line. Over half his TD's were from the 1 yardline. Anyone can score from there given enough carries.

Zeke is limited at the GL as he has trouble bouncing it outside. And he doesnt make people miss. So unless the line gets him the push he isnt effective. Hes predictable.

He’s 2nd alltime among active players
Zeke has always been good around the goal line. There’s no question about that. The question is do you keep that guy on the roster? And I wouldnt
I’d draft a guy because we could lose pollard next year and I like planning ahead

Or you could just track the decline of the Oline and his decline went right with it. Zeke was NEVER as good as his rookie year indicated.
they could have plugged in a number of backs that could have put up those numbers early in his career. We had absolutely the best line in football. When we lost Leary and tfred it declined

Sure but I mean he was a special player here. I’m just saying if they were hell bent on that he could still play - he’d still be here. And I’d agree that there will be similar treatment to other players because it makes no sense to burn bridges or be petty and the organization gains nothing.

Dez was an amazing player but he was very volatile and that’s what we saw first hand behind the scenes I’m sure there’s a high chance it was worse which is why maybe they didn’t handle that the same.
