If regular season victories are your measurement of success, I feel sorry for you. The NFL is and will always be about Super Bowl championships. Cowboy fans who have been around for a time remember when this franchise was almost always contending for a title. 10 conference championship games in the 70s & 80s, 3 SB in 4 years in the 90s. I say that it says a lot about someone who is so passionate about this team they have stuck around for 23 years of mediocre football.

We all want the team to win 13 games a year. Some of us want us to be true contenders and aren't willing to settle for the occasional playoff appearance. The Dallas Cowboys should be contending for titles and longtime fans are heartbroken and angry that they aren't.

And there is nothing objective that claiming a team that is basically at or around .500 more or less for two decades if you start rounding up is a successful NFL franchise.

Actually I was not counting the specialists plus Randy Gregory and that leaves 54.

Still again, lowest in the league. Still waiting on the explanation as to why.

The fact they are not paid right now is irrelevant.

It basically means that the desire is to stock the team with cheap draft picks and even cheaper UDFAs

This is a conscious decision.

You do not get that out of line with the majority of the NFL by accident.

You realize the Cowboys have never even competed for an NFC championship since CZ was created right? We've never been able to have a conversation about that game on an internet forum or a social media website,

Thank you for at least addressing the real question.

Perhaps it is just me, but I don't think this franchise's braintrust has ever proven itself to be pace setters.

If anything, we are followers.

The problem is simple, we have the fewest players under contract in the entire league.

That means we have but two avenues to restock the talent, the draft and UDFAs.

We have 10 draft picks. The average UDFA class is about 13-20 more or less.

So, the body count is well away from the 90 typically that go to camp.

If you can please point out the team that has used this special kind of strategy and done well with it, I am all ears.
