not the point at all i'm making, I hear what you're saying, but you're saquon for example, you did all that hard running to get down the field, then to be pulled out in the red zone area? Not cool
Saquon doesn't get pulled.. he just gets to push the QB in for the TD. Barry Sanders, maybe the most gifted runner we have ever seen, frequently got pulled down close for one simple reason. He ran with almost no power and he often refused to hit it up in there for that last 2-3 tough yards. Emmitt was left in because he ran with tremendous power and never shied away from slamming it into the line if there was a TD to be had. That's why Emmitt had like 60 more rushing TDs than Barry. And it's not about "cool." It's about doing that which gives you the best chance to score and thus the best chance to win.

Think it was Broaddus that said, the Cowboys were going to play the young guys (Duece) and Zeke was going to be inactive possibly, so they mutually parted ways early.
I figured. No way he asked for a release thinking someone in the playoffs would pick him up. He just didn’t want to suffer the embarrassment of being a healthy scratch.

Barry Sanders would've destroyed EVERY single NFL record if he had Emmitt's offensive line.

Or maybe Emmitt would've destroyed EVERY single NFL record if he had played in the run-n-shoot and faced all those 2 and 3 man down linemen defenses.. We can coulda woulda shoulda all day.. Won't change a damn thing.
I love that Sanders argument because its not true. Dallas's OL was horrible before they drafted Emmitt....almost the entire line was already there in 1990 Tui, Newton, Step, Gogan, Gesek.....Williams came in 1991. Norv Turner, Tony Wise and the addition of Emmitt made that line dominant. Emmitt would have been great behind any line I believe. Best big game running back I ever saw.

Maybe if barry woulda just ran through instead of fanacy dancy in the backfield. So you can make up all kinds of stuff in your head that never hsppened.

That lions team wasnt as bad as people think they remember.

And maybe zeke could have used some good blocking in recent years too. But ge didnt and now receives "fans" wrath and ridicule.

But hey "barry sanders" is who we care most about.

My point is the 6070s and 80s Cowboys teams had a real legitimate NFL GM who knew football. He developed analytics before anyone else and there’s no comparison between Tex Schram and Jerry. My only point was about the GM.
OK....then why didnt you say tgat in the first place?

Seems like the Cowboys did Zeke a solid by releasing him to afford him the opportunity to sign with a playoff team. I bet a dollar his agent has fielded a few calls from playoff teams inquiring about his possible availability which led to the agent making a call the Zeke to make a call to Jerry asking for his release. Like I said.. I don't know what he has left.. but it's a damn sight more than what the Cowboys did with him. If nothing else he should have been the clear cut short yardage and red zone back.
Geezus give it up.

He stunk. He did nothing much to conclude he absolutely should have been our short yardage and goal line back.

Your homerism here with Elliott is actually kind of sad at this point. It’s weird you struggle to admit what is painfully obvious to any sane football fan.

LOL!! Barry Sanders played on a much worse team a majority of his career. The 90s lions had terrible O-lines. Hey, I loved hey-day Emmitt but he wasn't as fast or as shifty as prime Barry. Only a homer thinks that Emmitt was overall better. Both were tough guys and Barry hit holes like none other when they were there. Emmitt would've had half the yards/TDs on those Detroit teams especially after 1991.

Zeke never had the vision of either Emmitt or Barry. Zeke benefitted from a championship level OL his first two years then got slower/fatter. Fell off a cliff every proceeding year. Not even in the same league. Bye bye Zeke. Most overrated Cowboy ever next to his BFF Dak.

Laughable. Emmitt would've been stuffed way more with Detroit's line. There is NO COMPARISON between Detroit's OL of the 90s and Dallas'.

If it makes you feel better to believe that then I'm fine with it. All I know is that the same offensive line that suddenly became all-world when Emmitt showed up blocked for a leading rusher who averaged 3.5 ypc and about 500 yards the year before. If you don't appreciate and understand what Emmitt did for this franchise then that's on you. I'm not here to change your mind. The facts speak for themselves. Nate Newton, Mark Tuinei, Kevin Gogan, and Mark Stepnoski had zero combined pro bowls before Emmitt came to Dallas. Five years later they became regulars in Hawaii. But the story that it was all the line the line the line suits some people's narratives so they run with it. Enjoy.

Emmitt was special. I am not trying to diminish him really but to think he would've done just as well somewhere else, I just don't buy it. In Dallas it was just a perfect storm that became greatness. That OLine was one of the best ever assembled in history of pro football at Emmitt was the right guy to run behind it. I just think Barry would've done a little better with all being equal.
