The Cowboys still do not need Dak Prescott

At least not the up and down version they get too often. The game plan should continually be run on about 2/3 of offensive plays and the playaction from under center. It is less risky than throwing and seems to augment the defense that much more. I would be okay with Ceedee Lamb being used on runs and short passing plays even more.

The recipe for winning with Rush should still be the gamelan. The gameplan that San Francisco had versus the Bucs is absolutely what this team’s winning method must be. Bludgeon the other team in the run with some playaction thrown in here and there.

There are only a handful (2-3) of QB’s that can actually dominate the passing attack to the point that the rushing game does not matter that much. Dak’s not one of them. The rushing game and defense need to be leaned on heavily for this team to win consistently.

39 passes
31 runs

And that is counting those 6 runs from Dak.

Which just proves that the team needs to run more to me. The passing attack should not be the primary weapon offensively. All of the best games this season started and ended with heavy doses in the rushing game.

Dallas has scored 33 touchdowns since Dak's return. They scored nine offensive touchdowns in Cooper Rush's five starts.

That formula isn't taking you anywhere in the playoffs. This team's only chance for a playoff run is with Dak, no matter how many people think otherwise.

So we all didn't witness Dak drive his 18th 4th quarter winning drive? Hmmm.

It was necessary to erase his and the offense’s self created mistakes. I never said he was bad or could not play. I said he was inconsistent-again. I get it. Be happy with the win. My standards for a Cowboys team is slightly higher than squeaking out December wins playing sloppy ball against the worst team. Hope to see better next week, the week after, and on into the postseason.

How many TDs did San Francisco score to beat the Packers last postseason?

That's irrelevant. The Cowboys' formula with Rush was to lean heavily on the defense and they delivered. Looking back on those Rush games the only impressive one was the Bengals. The Commanders, Rams, and Giants are not the teams we thought they were a couple months ago.

If you want to re-live the Rush formula against a playoff team, look at the Eagles game in his final start before Dak came back. It wasn't sustainable especially since this vaunted defense is starting to disappear too often.

What happens when a defense takes away our run?

Keep running it for the most part and playaction off it. This team will not be going anywhere in the postseason if the other squad can keep this team to 75 yards or fewer rushing unless they win the turnover battle by at least 4.

Who do you suggest we put behind center that isn’t up and down? The bottom line is he was up when we needed him to be up in the closing seconds of the game. He deserves some props for bouncing back after that INT late in the fourth quarter. He didn’t allow it to get him down and he came through when we needed him. Granted he’s going to have to play better and stop throwing INTs. He has become somewhat inconsistent this season but he’s still a good QB.

What a stupid thread

This team went from one of the worst offenses in the league without Dak, to the best with him. Don't let a bad game by the team as a whole today cloud your judgement.

Or a bad game against the Bucs. Or a bad game against the Lions. Or being up by 2 against the Colts until they turned the ball over 5 straight possessions in the 4th quarter.

Yet everybody gushes over an Eagles team that almost blew a 4 TD lead over Detroit, needed a missed field goal to beat a bad Cardinals team, nearly blew a 20-0 lead over the Cooper Rush led Cowboys, and had to come from behind to beat those mighty Colts by, uh, one point.
