For those of you who have seen my posts, I have been adamant at the beginning that Murray should only be brought back at the right price. My primary reasoning? The "Curse of 370".

From the Philadelphia Inquirer this morning: "Murray is one of just 10 NFL running backs who have logged 390 or more carries in a season. Of the other nine, only two - Eric Dickerson and Eddie George - were very productive afterward. Three of the other seven never had another 1,000-yard rushing season, and the other four had just one. None of the other seven had more than one more season with 300 or more rushing attempts."

In fact, while Eddie George DID obtain 1,000 yards the following season, his production dropped to an anemic 3.4 yards per carry. We all know what happened after that. (I encourage you to read the whole article)

Bottom line here: it's not hating to call out the facts. I appreciate everything Murray did for our team last year. But to lock up $21 million in guaranteed money in a running back who has had trouble staying healthy AND will be testing the curse of 370 is folly.

True, but with Matthews and Sproles, Murray might not get as many touches which might help his effectiveness.

But then that begs the question, why pay top 5 RB money for a guy that you tend to put into a rotation?

Yes. I heard this stat a while ago and have been saying for a while that we wouldn't and shouldn't go against the law of averages.

It will prove to be a smart decision.

He's going to fall off quite likely.

The Eagles are hedging against that by having two runningbacks to carry the load.

Their mistake is that they signed two guys who are very injury prone.

I'm confused, is this the 390 or 370 curse? I need to know which to be worried about.

I see Murray getting 800 yards an 5 TDs net year.

Some injuries and less carries.

Murray is still going to get many touches mainly because Sproles is a specialty type player and not a traditional RB and Mathews good luck on relying on that guy. He has never played a full season.

Well put, I like the idea of the three back system but not at the price the Eagles are paying.
