Ok.....after almost a week to calm down I can finally post this without going crazy :bang2:

Why in the world when the DB's had been struggling the entire game did Wade not call an aggressive D on that last drive. I know it must be something that defensive coordinators know that the average fan doesn't because they all seem to do it.

But with the game on the line the Giants dinked and dunked their way down the field on our DBs while we put no pressure on Manning. Look what Rex Ryan did the the Patriots! It kills me every time they do it because you know they are going to score. At least if you play aggressively and they beat you with a big play, you have time to go down and score. The way Wade called it we not only allowed them to score but also ran out of time :bang2:

Hamlin and Carpenter were SCREAMING at the Cowboys sidelines about something. They either wanted a timeout to catch their breath or tell Wade NOT to play the sissy prevent defense

I can only hope that Wade learned his lesson from this and will NEVER do that again.

Wade brought the heat 3 times on that drive with no success.

We had them @ 2nd and 18 in their half of the field and Eli got outside of the pocket and got them into 3rd and 6.

On the 3rd and 6 play Steve Smith was lined up in the slot and Scandrick was backed off of him 4 yards for some reason. That is where they gave them the 1st.

Then we got them to that 3rd and 4, we bring the house, and Jenkins gives up his inside and they take the slant for the 1st down. (the one Ratliff tipped)

Then they hurry up the to line of scrimmage the DB's were waiting for a coverage call to come in all while Wade is trying to get a timeout.

We don't get the timeout, Scandrick is backed off yet again with his hands in the air waiting for a call, and Smith catches a pass that puts them well into field goal range.

Thats your game.

IMO we need to get a lot more aggresive guarding teams slot receivers... Well at least we needed to in that game. We did bring more than four 3 times out of 9 plays on that series though.

The squad was totally gassed. Spencer couldn't even walk towards QB. The last 5-7 plays he had NOTHING. I'm not criticising him really. Coaches need to call timeouts and make subs! Not much help behind Ware and Spencer at moment though.

Wade went blank on the defense calls, and the secondary never chucked or slowed a single receiver at the Line..Manning went 6 for 7 and really had no pass rush...Team is out of shape.

I didn't pick up on the team being out of of gas but that is the way I saw it. I know we got them into 3rd down situations but it just didn't feel like we got any pressure on him. I was thinking you bring a blitz on the 3rd and force a quick throw.

If you kept on eye on Ware and Spencer that drive, you could easily see them gassed...like they were moving in slow motion. The rest of the defense appeared tired as well.

So to me the bigger question is...

Why was the defense so exhausted in week 2? Was the time of possession that lopsided? Do we not sub enough? Were they not worked hard enough in the preseason games and training camp?

You know what's strange, guys? Our offense is scoring quickly ON THE GROUND. Normally when you grind it out you use a lot of time on the clock. But it seems like when Romo hands the ball off, it's been boom boom boom and we're in the end zone. I expect it from Felix, but even Barber has had his share of 20+ yard runs already. I'm not complaining, but maybe the defense would fare better if the offense wasn't so explosive, both in the air and on the ground.

I understand the angst and the desire for defense like Rex Ryan, but I posted before:

Wade is a great defensive coach...but the NFL has begun to pass up many of the coaches that were great even just a few years ago. Rex Ryan is probably showing a new defensive philosophy that coaches like Wade Phillips will either adapt, or go without a job in the years to come.

We'll see the coaches that will move along with the NFL, and those that will get passed up. It's a revolution!

This apparent changing of the guard in NFL coaching is also one of the reasons (one of the main reasons actually) that I cringe every time I hear fans scream for Bill Cowher, Mike Shanahan, or John Gruden or any other coach that has been out of football for even just a season.

I watched on old game the other day on NFL network when Wade was coaching Denver. Last game of the year, Denver had clinched a playoff birth and was playing for Home field advantage against LA. Hostetler brought the Raiders back with under 2 mins left to score a TD to tie the game. It was the EXACT defense we have seen here. Soft zone with easy completions.

It was a skinnier Wade with the same confused look on his face as the Raiders won it in OT. Holy deva-vu Batman.

Time of possession was the biggest factor. Those guys were gassed in the 3rd quarter, I saw them panting most of the night. We had a lot of 3 and outs.

I'm so sick of hearing "our defense was gassed" when they do very little to begin with. Maybe if they didn't have training camp in an air conditioned place they would be in better shape. you don't think the offense is tired putting up 30 points a game and having to carry this team on their backs?

They do it in spurts throughout the game and usually they score quickly. Very few long drives so they get more rest. Time of possession is just one of many things killing this D.

Stupid players do stupid things. Terrible coaches, can't coach.

We have both.

Wade is extemely overrated. So are alot of our players. Newman, Spencer, Bradie, Scandrick.
