We probably have 2 months left with the guy who Parsons called a "father figure" the other day. I don't envy Quinn's replacement because the current locker room seems deeply connected to him on a personal level. I hope Jerry Jones realizes the urgency of the moment. The guy who hired Rob Ryan, Monte Kiffin, Rod Marinelli, and Mike Nolan finally struck gold on a DC hire. I don't care about the future, we have to go all in on winning now before this man leaves.

How do we know he leaves? Last year no one thought he would be back for 2022.

He has one of the most talented defensive units in the league, and jerry willing to write blank checks.

Maybe he really wants to be a HC again, but who knows for sure?

Jerry can fix this with money.

Pay Quinn twice what he's paying McCarthy. If Quinn goes, it'll get ugly again on defense.

The problem is, Quinn isn't worth nearly as much as a head coach. He needs to run the defense.

Will the NFC be as bad next season? Probably not. This is a fantastic opportunity to reach the Superbowl in spite of having Prescott at QB because the chances are the Cowboys will only have to beat one good team to get there and the D might get it done. Quinn will surely be a Head Coach next season after what he has done with this D.

He said he likes to see the game from the booth. As head coach that's not feasible and probably why his defenses were not that good in Atlanta.

What do you mean, he interviewed for multiple HC jobs after last season.

And he decided to stay as the coordinator here so maybe he evaluated it and decided he didn't want it.

DQ will stay until we win a SB. He knows we are close. Then he can maximize that SB win on his resume to even a bigger HC contract.

He also knows if MM leaves by choice or Jerry's choice he is next in line. Even with the next HC in training being the OC.

Or maybe he realized he wasn't getting the jobs and pulled his name out of the running? Bears/Giants both made good hires. Broncos are probably regretting it. If the Chargers job comes open, he will pursue it considering the franchise QB there.

And probably could have had them but came back to Dallas after jerry gave him a raise. If the right situation comes open he may leave, but maybe not. He is in a great situation where he is loved in Dallas and has the talent to be a top defense the next couple years. I don’t see him leaving to take over a mess somewhere.

Would be very much against Jerry's philosophy. Not one to pay big money to coaches.

I think the chances of DQ sticking around are increasing rather than decreasing.
1) If MM is fired he will be next in-line.
2) If MM is retained due to a successful season I could see Quinn being patient and staying in the same role for another year. If at the end of that year (23/24 season) MM is fired he will more than likely be next in-line (unless the DEF falls apart). If more success he will be an even hotter commodity on the open market

I have full faith in Jerry to compensate Quinn at the very top of the coordinator pay scale, but if he aspires to be a HC once again, there’s not a lot that can be done to keep him. Not sure if dumping MM to promote him is the right look.

Personally I think he is waiting for the Seattle job to open up.

He could have had a HC job this past off-season if he wanted just any job. No one gets a third shot, so he has to choose wisely.

please dont bring up Marinelli or Mike Nolan

Marinellis defense was painful to watch and Nolans defense may have been 35th in the league

I thought Chris Collingsworth said during the game against the Eagles that Quinn wanted to be a head coach again

I will admit that McCarthy has been better than I expected he would be as head coach. He's changed a few performance patterns that had been in place with the Cowboys going back even before the Garrett years.

At the end of the day though you have to ask, is the team better with McCarthy and a Quinn-less defense or is it better with Quinn as head coach with his defense and a new offensive scheme.

I feel bad because McCarthy is not a bad coach or a bad guy, but the defense has failed the Cowboys so many times, especially at key moments, going back many years. If forced to choose, I would choose to keep the defense over the offense.

The Cowboys have basically had the same offense for the last 15 years. If this season ends without a Super Bowl appearance, I think it is finally time to accept that it is time to move on from the offense.

Sure, the next OC may be bad, but they may also be great and bring excitement back to the offensive players and do for the offense what Quinn has done with the defense.
