I'll give Jerry credit for seeing the need to bring BP in the 2002 offseason. But, as always, the center-of-attention narcissistic Jerry Jones could not help himself. When he had a chance to get TO, he LEAPED for it. Granted, on the record BP was on board with the signing, but off the record I don't think he was too happy. Remember what he said to Jerry when inking the contract: "If I'm making the meals, I need to be the one buying the groceries." Well, that's not always a good way to go either (ahem, LB Bobby Carpenter in round 1), and to be fair, the least of Dallas' problems is with the draft.

However when BP walked out after the playoff loss in Seattle, I really think part of it had to do with the circus environment that TO brought.

IF Dallas is to consistently sniff an NFC championship game, the following must happen. Will Jerry go for it? Probably not. But here it goes:

* You get a no-nonsense coach that will have a lot of pull in the War room, but more than that (again, drafting is not our problem), a lot of pull during free agency. Someone who can go to Jerry/Stephen and say, "that's the guy I want". Including his OC and DC.
* No nonsense = stop with the posh environment and distractions already. It's always a circus. Rob Gronkowski talked about this a couple years back as a guest host on the FOX pre and postgame show. There's no urgency or playing with fear in Big D. Like with Jimmy, let the team bond in the San Antonio summertime heat during training camp instead out in the more relaxed cooler and significantly drier environment up in the CA foothills.
* Whether the HC is involved or no, STOP handing out untenable second and third contracts to vets unless you are fairly confident the playoff window run is still open. Why sign Dak and CeeDee to those ridiculous deals? I can perhaps make the case for Lamb, but Dak? No way. This was always a 7-9 win team with no hope of going deep into the post season, now with a top heavy, cap unfriendly payroll. That's on the GM -- looking at YOU Jerrah and Stephen.
* Largely dictated by a more no-nonsense HC, we need to STOP with the distractions during the season. BP was so good keeping this under control. Think Romo and Witten would have gone to Cabo during the playoff bye had BP still been the coach? Think again. YES SIR/MA'AM head coaches will get us nowhere. Dallas needs an alpha like Jimmy or Bill P. Can the Jones boys handle that? Probably not.

Yes. Beyond silly. It’s ridiculous. 3-3, a bye week. The loss yesterday was to perhaps the best team in the NFC. Eleven games to go. If the Commanders are for real, making the playoffs may not happen. That’s still an “if”. Philly and NYG aren’t tearing up the league. The division is winnable. Fans need a healthier perception of what’s going on.

1960-2024 RIP.........The Dallas Cowboys officially died October 13th,2024....from repeated hits from the Detroit Lions and 1,000 cuts every season from owner/GM Jerry Jones. I'm sorry to have to post this but it is what it is. We were taking a butt kicking and what did I see on the sidelines. Micah and CeeDee with other players relaxing and talking laughing as if they were at a spa. Never saw one player angry-throwing helmets-nothing. The team at this point could care less. And I think it started way back in the Spring with IDIOT JONES! He asked the reporter last night "do you think I'm an idiot"? Well Jerry-thanks for asking "hell yea" I think you're an idiot! You play around with signing your best two players. You knew all along you were going to do it. But to keep Jerry in the spotlight you drag it on to keep" likes" coming in like a little self-centered girl on social media. Then he lies to his gullible fanbase we "all in" coming this season. In all honesty I think the team has quit on Jerry. I think the team has had enough of him. They died 28 years ago when Jerry determined he was going to micromanage every facet of football operations regardless if that put winning as the top priority. For fans that lived through the amazing Landry/Staubach era, it is exceedingly cruel.
