It all started at the end of the Parcells era

Then everyone thought it was Stewart's fault including me.

Then, everyone thought it was Phillp's fault.

Then, everyone loves Rob Ryan.

Now, everyone thinks Rob Ryan's the problem.

Hate to say it but its the defensive players.

Spencer, Newman, Ratliff, Ware, Brookings, Spears, Jenkins, Scandrick, Sensabugh, and Bradie James have all been through it here. I know some might have came later than others but those players have been here long enough. It's plain and simple this group can't get it done. There biggest downfall is they can never hold a lead. I'll just use this year as an example

Week 1 vs Jets= The defense had plenty of chances to shut Sanchez out but didn't. They let them hang around and Romo made the bad play. The Steelers defense would of had that game in control by the middle of the 3rd quarter.

Week 4 vs Det, Yes, Romo threw those bad picks but it was 30-17 going into the 4th quarter after the int's and we couldn't hold it again, 34-30.

Week 6 vs NE= Up 16-13 with 2minutes left. Blew another one. EVen though i'll concede this was BRady.

Week 11 at Wash= we let these guys march I think 85 yards in 2 minutes to tie the game.

Week 13 vs Ariz= the whole second half Ari had there way with our defense.

Week 14 NYG= we all know what happen

Everyone blames Romo but if he actually had a defense we would at least have 9 wins right now. Some could get mad over the following but I think im speaking the truth about the following players.

Spencer= Can mapquest find Spencer when the team needs at the very least a hurry. He's horrible hate to say it.

James= He was suppose to be our leader. The only thing he lead us to is blowing leads and team collapses in his tenure. Decent player in his prime and thought he could lead but couldn't.

Newman= My fav player over the past few years and I have defended him many times. However, Newman is kinda bipolar. At times he looks like a pro bowl corner but at other times he looks like a free agent off the street. Like tonight. He has given up so many big plays over the years. Either he needs to go back to techinque school or he needs to be released.

Ratliff= he has always been there for us up to this year. Tonight he had that nice tackle but overall he is starting to slip away imo. This year is the quietest I ever seen Ratliff.

Jenkins= Does anyone know who Mike Jenkins is? That's because he's either hurt or in a hot or cold streak. I really can't say if Jenkins is a good, average or bad corner and that's a problem imo.

Scandrick= He's not the problem. He;s solid every week.

Ware= Does everything he can do.

Spears-Brookings are done.

What we need imo is an identity. Like the Ravens, like the Steelers and even the 49ers this year and that starts with getting size of the dline, getting Ware another pass rusher next to him and getting a top flight corner. It's time to go in another direction with our d. I would only keep the following Ware, Scandrick, Ratliff, Sensy, Lee, and Jenkins. opinions

Could not agree more they need a Teague a Woodson...to watch Jacobs on his first TD totally dissrespect the team and the def still allows him to reach 100 yards rushing and score another TD..this team has not had a true def leader since the days of Woodson. This team has not played with fire or emotion on the def side of the ball for years. Its time to put Carter in there for the rest of the year to see what he can bring to the team.

We need a better secondary. Our run defense is actually quite good. Jacobs torched us a bit last night but I've had confidence in our run D all year. It's the pass D that's the problem and the reason we're giving up games late. When you've got the lead in the 4th with under two minutes and the other teams looking to win the game you tend to have to rely on your secondary. Ours hasn't been coming through for us hence all the late game collapses.

Yeah, this just in ... the defense needs better players.

They need 10 more starters with Sean Lee's attitude.

Been saying it for years. The core of this defense is mentally soft. And they were drafted by Parcells. And they 'types' of guys he wanted take their leadership from coaching...it is not 'in' them. I said it when Keith Brookings, on his last legs...came into this locker and IMMEDIATLEY became the leader of this defense? I thought that was hilarious. Parcells was a single voice type of guy...and that voice was him. So that is how the guys he drafted and brought here were raised. And to this day, there is not a leader among them. We need to infuse this defense with more youthful talent. I can still recall getting in debates with people about how 'great' Bradie James was. Well in one season of Sean Lee...we now see what we have been missing. We now know that the status quo (Bradie James) was not nearly good enough. We need more of them. Hopefully Bruce Carter will be one. But we have moved from year after year with the same core..and it needs to be broken up. They have a losers mentality!

If only Spencers, Newmans, Ratliffs, Wares, Brookings, Spearss, Jenkinss, Scandricks, Sensabaughs, and Jamess all had some of the leadershipz, we'd be fine!
