That boggles my mind. Either you are the biggest UT homer in the world, or you don't know much about the draft.

Would you seriously not like Anthony Spencer, Reggie Nelson or Robert Meachum at #22?

Would you like Ross over Revis, McCauley and Houston?

who has revis covered over there in the big least? NOBODY

McCauley is horrible and overrated.....just ask the FSU homers on this board...guys like Latin

Houston is a very nice prospect, who played against some very good WR prospects in the SEC and against USC.

I would not be upset if we drafted Houston.....but I dont want Revis or McCauley.

Ross struggles when he plays off the WR at the snap. If he crowds the LOS, he dominates in coverage. That is the secret to using Ross effectively. He is also a playmaker. He gets ints, forces fumbles, recovers fumbles.....he is a solid tackler......oh yes and he returns kicks

at 22 our options arent as fruitful as i would like. after signing davis and resigning gurode and colombo, i dont want to draft OL in the first. I do really like DE Carriker, but he will be gone by our pick, and we already have 5 DEs (Spears, Canty, Hatcher, Ratliff, Bowen).

We do need help at LB, an area we are lacking depth IMO......and the one guy I would want to draft will probably be gone.....Patrick Willis. However, he would be coming off the bench.

Another guy I really want wont be there at 22......DT Amobi Okoye....he looks to be an awesome prospect.

So this is why I say at 22......the only guy I want is Aaron Ross

Where we pick there is really only 1 guy I want and that is CB Aaron Ross.....

Some of the other guys I want are valued in the 2nd or 3rd round, but we only have 1 pick in each round. I really wish we had three 2nds and three 3rds.....then we could definitely go after the guys I want....

WR Anthony Gonzalez (early 2nd Round Value)
FB Brian Leonard (2nd round value)
RB Chris Henry (4th round value, but could be picked in the late 3rd or by a team with comp picks)
OG Josh Beekman (2nd round value)
OG Manny Ramirez (3rd round value)
OLB Brian Robison (late 2nd - early 3rd round value)
ILB Zak DeOssie (3rd round value)
CB Tarell Brown (3rd round value)
CB Courtney Brown (probably 4-5 round value, but his stock is rising fast and some team could jump on him in the 3rd)

So if i was picking I would go

2 - WR Anthony Gonzalez
2 - FB Brian Leonard
2 - OLB Brian Robison
3 - OG Manny Ramirez
3 - ILB Zak DeOssie
3 - CB Tarell Brown
4 - CB Courtney Brown

Houston is way better prospect than Ross, if you want a corner than Houston is the logical choice.

The only guy I have rated above Houston at CB is Leon Hall and he will be gone at #22.

Ross was totally abused by Iowa in their bowl game, not somebody I would burn a 1st rounder on...........sorry UT homers, but Houston is better.

It just sounds like you're limiting yourself instead of thinking more BPA. There will be plenty of talent at 22, but most fans here don't want them or think the Cowboys won't use them enough to deserve 1st round money etc. Dwayne Bowe, Dwayne Jarrett, Sidney Rice, Jason Hill, Greg Olsen, Anthony Spencer, Jarvis Moss, Quincy Black and Tank Tyler all have an excellent chance of still being on the board at 22. Marshawn Lynch, Ted Ginn and Adam Carriker could even drop to our spot....who knows.

That's 12 players that could start right away IMO. I mean, isn't that the way you should always consider 1st round talent...as game 1 starters?
Can Aaron Ross start at RCB the first game of the season?
When they start throwing his way the entire game, is he going to handle it?

If he doesn't guess what....TD....another TD...another TD etc. The CB position is one you better be damn sure about, because that player can cost you a game quicker than anybody else besides QB.

Except that Meriweather has never had problems off the field. He is a passionate player who got caught in the heat of a fight on the field. Thats it. Id take a chance on top 20 talent only given that 1 incident.

And in fact, some people have him as a top 10 talent

you see teams take chances on turd players left and right and they almost always end up getting burned, and yet we still have post after post from people on here that want that kind of garbage here

Uh, yeah there is.

2007 NFL Draft Prospect - Scouting Report
Brandon Meriweather played in 49 games at Miami and was a starter in the secondary the past two seasons. He showed his versatility by playing both safety positions during that time and has even played cornerback due to numerous team injuries. He displays excellent tacking ability and is not afraid to move up and play the run. Meriweather is solid in coverage, whether man-to-man or zone. Although he has a compact frame, Meriweather can lay a hard hit on opposing receivers and will make them think twice before crossing the middle of the field. He is a tremendous athlete with outstanding hands and exceptional closing speed to the ball. His talent and potential are never in question, but his conduct both on and off the field may be a concern for his new team. Meriweather continues to improve and has all the ability and talent to become an impact player at the next level. His conduct aside, he clearly has an unbelievable upside to become a playmaker for many years to come in the NFL. He should be one of the top defensive backs selected in the draft, most likely going in the mid-to-late first round.

The off field incident they speak of is one where he shot at some people a la Sean Taylor. Many will tell you he is vindicated for why he did it. Just like some will for Taylor. It is still a concern why he would be somewhere when someone gets shot and that he would shoot back.

what...did this guy run over your dog or something?

I'd rather have nelson, easy. And I would always rather have "character" guys, but if we dont get some 1st rd talent at FS, we are going nowhere. I dont want to hear about a pass rush either. (and sorry, i am about to eat, so i am not going to search for that draft site i was at that had his talent level at potential top 10, so if u dont believe me...i can live with that.

David is consistent in his disregard for players with negative baggage. I doubt it has anything to do with his dog, but I bet you he'll appreciate your concern for the animal's health and safety.

pass rush >>>>>> whoever plays FS, and its not even close

The kid pulled out his gun that he legally owned after witnessing his friend and rommate getting shot to death. Not to mention that his own life was surely at risk as well. If you are going to not draft a talented kid because of that then maybe you are the one with character issues.

I love it. This has to be one of the most convoluted attempts at logic ever.

I have character issues because I don't have friends who hang out in areas or with people who might get shot, and I don't carry a gun in public areas even though I am licensed to and have plenty of them.

Thank you for the morality lesson.
