does throwing Henson off the cliff mean that we have a better QB prospect? or does it mean this is Hutch/Leaf will be better than Q debate all over gain...

anyone in their right mind is not going to cut the 3rd string QB without a replacement? yeah not too many teams have 2 Qbs on the roster!

the question should be if someone from the 06 class/06 training camp shows better promise than HENSON.... Do u then, throw Henson off the cliff to make room for the guy with more promise?

The funniest part of your statement is you state there should be someone better before he is cut, yet you voted him to be cut without us having anyone better lol

Throwing poor Drew off a cliff is a bit extreme, but clearly the "Henson Experiement" has ran it's course.

;)

Henson is 26, if he doesnt have a clue now, he wont ever.

Staubach was 29 when he assumed starting duties (didn't even join the team till he was 27).

Kurt Warner was 28 when he took over in St. Louis.

Hasselbeck just started playing well about 2 years ago, when he was 27.

I could go on....not all quarterbacks are straight out of college rookies that do well immediately. Want to analyze Rich Gannon's career?

He's freakin 3rd sting. What's the matter with some of you people. Name me 1 other 3rd string QB you'd rather have. He has a ton of potential and we are in no real hurry. Let's give it a little time and see what we have.

Good point....Lets throw everyone on the team of a cliff that is not starting...lol.

Well if Bledsoe goes down this year and somehow Henson actually gets the nod...we won't have to worry, TO will throw him off a cliff for us. :)

I would hope that Henson is able to win the #2 job in training camp. That, to me, would represent progress. If he can't beat out a guy (Romo) who himself has never taken a meaningful NFL snap for the second training camp in a row then I will be really concerned. Henson needs to play A LOT this preseason so we can see what we have. Again, it all goes back for me to the end of the 2004 season when, at 5-7, Parcells continued to play Vinny rather than Henson. I don't care if he had'nt played since 2000 or whatever. Parcells had a free chance to take a look at a young guy and the fans/media wouldn't have said boo. Instead he sticks with an over the hill vet who has no future with the team. That's the only time I feel he betrayed Jerry's trust since he's been here. You can't find out if a guy can play if he sits on the bench. So, unless Henson can't win that #2 job this summer I'm willing to wait another few months before giving up on him. Don't forget, the reason he was brought here in the first place was because it was an alternative to spending a first rounder on a QB when we had many other needs. My best hope for Henson is that his career follows a pattern similar to Kurt Warner, Rich Gannon, Trent Green, etc.

Want to get the pulse of the board

This is a joke right, or do you just simply feel the need to make posts for the sake of making posts?

Seriously dude, there's been 7569 threads about Henson in the last 6 mths alone, and THIS is your "good idea" for a thread!!?? Come on, you're better than that!

What are you working on next... "TO, good for team chemistry or no?"

GEEEEZZZUS!

It takes 3-4 years.................Henson hasn't followed the normal progression you'd expect from an NFL QB prospect, but I think he took a major step last week. For the 1st time in his professional football career he showed some consistency. Though his stats weren't spectacular, last week he played well enough and made plays to help his team win after an impressive performance in Week 2.

He has to string together games where he doesn't hurt the team in wins or losses..........We hope the play making ability comes as he gets more playing time. Hopefully its good enough to keep him on the roster, because if the Cowboys are loading up for a run, the might bring in a QB with experience to battle for the back-up job.

Henson will already be behind going into camp because the other QBs will have a leg up in Chris Palmer system.

Henson is what he is a long term developmental QB. This is all about getting him reps. His play so far is average against inferior competition. But that matters not much at this point, its all about getting Drew the experience he needs to compete for us in the NFL.

I look to thiis draft to bring in another QB.

Make no mistake, the Cowboys are running Parcell's system. Palmer is the one getting a refresher coarse and Henson won't be missing that. He will miss minimal minicamp time since the NFLe season started early because of soccer in europe this summer.

Great point...To add to that, it seems like Steve Logan in NFLE has Henson playing a simular game managing style that BP loves.

Overall a great experience for Henson over there.

I'll say it for the 1000th time now. Romo made a huge mistake by declining to go over there.

I think your comment about Romo is dead on.

And...not for nuthin...but Romo could have used the work every bit as much as Henson.

I don't remember much about Romo playing, but, I really doubt that he has the arm that Henson has! His throws are ropes! And, a few of his long passes today were much better then the previous games...:star:

Several pro scouts have said that Vince Young will need a few years before he can play the NFL QB position....and this is a guy that didn't have a 3 yr layoff from football....not to mention that he has a TON of arm strength, in-game passing accuracy, intelligence, and defense reading question marks.
so if Vince Young doesn't look like Peyton Manning by year 3 and can't beat out someone like Tom Brady in year 4 will you want to throw him off a cliff also? I know a lot of folks here that want to toss Henson off a cliff desperately want VY....another long-term developmental project. So why would we trade one long term project for another when we're 3 years into one already and it looks like the light might be coming on for Henson?

A few things we KNOW about Henson that we don't about VY, he's intelligent, he throws lasers, and he's accurate even with tight coverage. If Henson's last season at UofMich was this past college season and was going in this draft along with VY, I assure you that Henson would be the #1 QB on everyone's draft board.
So he didn't beat out Romo last year, he'd been out of football a while and apparently Romo was pretty good.
So he's 26, Bledsoe is 33 and still seems to have another few seasons left.
So you don't trust him as our #2....who are the backups behind Peyton Manning or Tom Brady? Would you prefer Seneca Wallace as our #2? Seriously? Have you seen the backups in Philthy? They get a lot of PT, they're awful. Have you seen the STARTERS in NY? (either team)
I think its becoming safe to say that we at least will have a solid #2 on our roster next season in Henson if he continues to progress as he is. A solid #2 QB for a 3rd round pick is better than what we got out of a few of our previous 2nd rounders. And...if by chance....Henson turns into our starter oneday in the next few years...pretty HUGE dividend.
I think Romo is the expendable guy here. Decent, but no potential to ever be a #1.
I'm a huge Brady Quinn fan but I'd prefer to see Henson turn the lights on because it'd free up our drafting and/or FA money BIGTIME in the offseasons to come.
