It’s going to have to go to something similar if they adopt the xfl kickoff that’s been discussed

If you fail an onside now the ball is around midfield, so you at least have a chance to stop them without giving up points. Under this, if you fail its basically auto 3 points for the other team. If you have no choice you obviously still go, but it changes the math a lot if you do have a choice.

The 5% recovery is just too low.

I'll bet a fair number of teams have a better chance of converting a 4th and 20 than they do an onside kick.

I think it would be fun but the fact they have a running back playing quarterback they shouldn’t bring worried about converting a 4th and 20….

This is absolutely the DUMBEST rule EVER proposed. For the 100th time, when you have just been on offense, you DO NOT GET TO TAKE OVER ON OFFENSE AGAIN.....when its under 2:00, what is the risk if you DO NOT CONVERT??? The other team takes over deep in your territory....BIG DEAL....you were probably gonna lose anyway!!! Why wouldn't you try and convert??? It also would take the strategy of correctly budgeting your time outs out of the equation....this is just a terrible idea. Does MLB try and shoehorn a rule into play in which a team in gets a shot at 4 outs? NO!!! Why not? Because it is asinine!!!! The NFL has really left me since The Goon took over as commissioner....just crazy.

Why? Getting the ball in that situation isn't supposed to be easy. Plus, this fundamentally changes the game. Dumb.

The QB has to throw the ball from the 40 yard line through a 2' diameter metal ring that two referees side-by-side separated by 1' hold up in the end zone. If the QB hits one of the refs with the pass, then the QB is ejected from the game. If the QB misses, then the opposing team takes over at their own 35 yard line. If the QB pass goes through the ring, then their team takes over at their own 35 yard line.

That is all I will accept.
