The Eagles have exposed our defense to the rest of the NFL

...was it an airshow because of the NFC East Rivalry or is our defense that soft? what do you guys think....?

My opinion is #1 the Eagles probably know us better than any other team in the NFL aside from the Giants and took chances early knowing it was gonna be a shoot out, and said, wth if we win we win because of these big plays...there is a big chance we(eagles) are gonna lose.

or #2 Stewart has no conficence in our defense and it was his scheming that almost cost us the game, the zone defense was not working out, Jackson is so small simple bump n run would of probably took him out of the game, instead he ended up gaining a lot of yards.

We've been giving up the underneath stuff for a long long time.

It's increasingly evident mobile passers give us fits. Which scares me for facing Rodgers this week. I'm really wondering if what he did to us last year wasn't a mirage, and could be easily done again.

It was more about the rivalry than anything else. It seems no matter where both teams are with regard to success during the season, all bets are off when they hook up. It used to be that way with us & the Skins.

This theory is based on the assumption that only our oponents are capable of changing schemes based on a particular oponent, or even simple improvement really.

Mcnabb at 100% is a solid NFL force to be reckoned with.......if you have a QB and a couple of legit weapons (westbrock & deshaun) with the rules as constructed right now in the nfl (ie no secondary contact)......you will score points......

oh and phillthy Oline is not too shabby either.......

and the head coach has some skills

it all adds up to Philly is not a bad team, better than most

If we can come out the NFC East, we will be battle tested for playoffs

The Eagles averaged 6.3 yards per pass play, which is less than the NFL average.

Some airshow.

I think alot of people should go back a watch that game over if your able to. I think their O scored 3 td's, one of which was gift wrapped by a terrible PI call on Henry. I dont even think McNabb had 300 yards passing either. The reality of that game and what i take from it is that we need to limit the penalties. If we do that we will be unstoppable on both sides of the ball. I thik alot of you dont understand the limitation that playing man coverage all day does. Im not sure i want to say ok, Pac you gaurd Gregg Jenings today and Henry tou gaurd Donald Driver. I think we would get toasted doing that.

And yeah sure, it sounds nice to say all we had to do was bumb Desean JAckson and he would be eneffective. But happens if we play bumb run coverage DJackson gets a clean release and he's on A. Henry's side of the feild, that 6 point instantly on the board. Unless we can get a pass rush on every play then how is that going to be effective. And even if we do just send DWare and Greg on every play, and play man like some of you guys want to see happen. Then Brian Westbrook (their best player) catches the ball on a screen or a quick dump off and our secondary is 20 yards down the field. I dont think you guys our looking at this realistially. The fact of the matter this has turned into an offensive league and teams are going to score points. Its just sad that no matter what the D holds the opponent too, the next day people are going to complain about them. **** we gave up 10 points week 1 and people where complaining.

I really dont see how any of you actually enjoy watching the game when there are nothing but complaints week after week.

The 4th quarter stops helped the defense redeem theirself.
The fact Romo spotted them 14 pts w/ turnovers they did real good.

No they didn't.

Everyone on this forum knows this defense was questionable and has been our bane for quite a while.

Philadelphia is a really good team. In this day in age where rules are slanted towards the offense, it is difficult to hold teams down, especially the ones that know you like the back of their hand.

And you want to get technical, as Troy Aikman stated in the first game against the Browns, everyone was saying the Giants exposed us and provided a blueprint on how to beat us.

And like Troy said (to show how idiotic it was), that blueprint that they supposedly provided is how you beat all teams.

so if we were exposed, what did that game do to the Eagles vaunted Jim Johnson defence?

Exactly. NO SACKS from Philly.

That stat means quite a bit to me. They barely touched Tony through the game. The vaunted J.J. defense was no where to be seen. It was our mistakes that allowed them to shine.

It's funny that people say our O-line played better against Cleveland. Last time I checked Romo got a busted chin from that game.

Anyway on topic, our D showed up when it counted. We got some crucial penetration throughout the second half, especially in the 4th.

I think our defense will continue to grow, and we were far from exposed against a talented Eagle offense. My gut is telling me that we really bring the pain against the Packers. Just like last year when we put Favre out of the game!

Beware of D-Ware Mr. Rogers!:starspin

Our OL did play better against Cleveland. One good pressure from their D where they got a good - but illegal - hit on the QB doesn't erase the dominance they showed throughout the game.
