The Eagles losing yesterday in the Super Bowl does not prove that they have a poor process in place (yes we are all happy they did not win-duh). Getting to the conference championship game or SB proves that the franchise built a legitimate contender.

The Eagles have built seven contenders in the past 27 years vs the Cowboys’ zero in that time span. Philadelphia obviously is on a more correct path than the Cowboys. Making the playoffs is not as high of a standard anymore, because about half the teams now make it.

The Giants are also way ahead during this time span. You can enjoy the regular season wins and consistently making the playoffs, but without more postseason success, it’s just bark without bite. Satisfaction with the Cowboy’s past 27 years process should only be had by the Jones family and anyone directly/indirectly getting cashflow from interest in the franchise.

No need to look foolish or shill on a message board for an ownership group that has admitted they are not as interested in building a championship roster as they are in making a buck. Actual fans only care about consistently (once every 5-7 years) building teams that can prove they are actual contenders (and hopefully champions) instead of building profitable pretenders.

Nothing surprising to anyone with a brain.

Jerry is first about money. Always has been always will be.

And the birds do have the system set up for continual success to the point of winning or at the least contending for Lombardi's and the Cowboys clearly do not.

So what? They have proven to have a process in place that is much superior to the clown show.
Not disagreeing with our clown show, in fact I never connected the two. Just stating they have a lot of significant players that will be free agents.

We will see. Philly might be the most interesting team this offseason. Tons of draft capital, but they also are set to lose multiple starters in free agency. They also had a QB just have his breakout season with D coordinators getting a full offseason to really study him and that offense in depth.....and that QB is about to get expensive. Not to mention this is a team that went to great lengths to take advantage of the rule book. I would expect the competition committee to take some hard looks at the Eagles QB sneaks, Oline movement, getting Olineman downfield on RPOs, etc. Not knocking them, everything the did was (mostly) legal, they just took it a step further than the rest of the league to use the rulebook to their advantage.

Exactly. They will fall off and rebuild and be in and possibly win another superbowl. Meanwhile our ceiling remains the 2nd round going on nearly 30 years in a row.
They won't even fall off.

Most of the big FA's are from a defense that just got 34 dropped on their heads.

They will just replace them with equal or better talent.

The most important positions will stay in place.

Their defense was atrocious and undisciplined last night, especially in the second half. It was too easy for KC. On those two touchdowns both were WIIIIIIIIDE OPEN. Darius Slay is washed and he got completely fooled on that first TD to Kadarius Toney. If that happened to Diggs we would all be saying trade him immediately. On the second TD the blitz completely failed to cover the left flat which resulted in an easy walk in TD for Skyy Moore. If that had happened to us we would all be saying to get the guillotine out for Dan Quinn.

I bet Philly looks very different next year with all the FA players up.
I bet Philly looks closer to what they are now than some of you think. Underestimate Roseman at your own risk.

They also have 3 picks in the first 64 picks this year. They could again trade one of those first rounders for a veteran guy like they did with AJ Brown.

I get the feeling some here are banking on Philly regressing a lot in order to make us competitive for the division. Don't bank on that. Jerry and doorknob of a son need to be cautiously aggressive this offseason to make us better. I fear Jerry thinks like some fans and believes the Eagles are gonna regress enough to give us the leg up. It's a dumb strategy.

The regression will be mainly due to the strength of schedule.

Philly defense was overrated this year due to the poor QBs they played against.

They also had many close games which they won, but statistically this an area where we see a drop off year over year.

Additionally, expect them to lose some coaches (lost their OC already) , so maybe some impact there as well.

It is also not lost on me that with this rational Dallas should regress too.

The FO of the iggles operates differently than the Cowboys. They are less likely to sustain success from year to year but their ceiling is higher within a decade-wide window. The Cowboys will win more games within that same decade-wide window but they are less likely to compete in a Super Bowl. So, with that said, I agree with the OP.

I don’t think he even gets that much credit. I just think he’s bad at his GM. He wants to win as much as anyone. He’s just too much of a fan.

But for a garbage ticky tack holding penalty at the end of the game, likes of which hadn't been called in the whole playoffs, Eagles would perhaps be champions today. Their process did not fail them; the NFL's officiating did. The Eagles FO game is strong.

The difference now will be they have to pay huge money to Hurts. Can they sustain the run? Their previous run was with Wentz on a rookie deal and then Foles as a backup salary who came in for Wentz back to back years. Eagles absolutely took advantage with the QB on a rookie deal and made runs. Won it all one year and came up a little short this year. NE was able to stay consistent because Brady always took hometown discounts because he didn't need the money being married to Gisselle. He is the huge outlier as no one else is doing that. Hurts is going to command a huge payday. This will cause them to lose part of their stacked roster they built as they aren't sticking around for discounts.

But their front office is light years ahead of ours as they have made 2 Super Bowls in 6 years, all with totally different rosters and coaching staffs. They are proactive, know how to work free agency, trades and the draft. They also have some high draft picks this year for a Super Bowl team so that will help a lot offset free agents who will depart.
