Those aren't necessarily solid, though.

but, if you eat your greens, you stay "good"....matty-boy was surviving on JJ's greenbacks for 3 years.....sorry to see the kid not realize his potential; not sorry that they cut him....get healthy and then try out again if you want....

Johnson was on the payroll for 2 years (not 3 as some are saying)..
In any case, as much bad luck as he's had, at least the guy was drawing a check for a couple of years.

Good luck, dude.

I would be happy to see him on the practice squad or IR because I'd like to see if he can ever get past this injury bug.

I'm glad the team is not carrying him on the 53 because this way costs nothing in reality for Johnson to get one more chance to make that fourth-round pick we used on him a success.

I know some might believe we should use that PS spot on a player who has been healthy, but realistically, not very many practice squad players ever become more than that. Maybe by keeping Johnson, we cut the one who does, but the chance of that happening is not very high.

If we don't decide to keep Johnson in some capacity, then I wish him luck in getting his NFL career going. I'm rooting for him to succeed, but won't be paying attention to whether he does because I only pay attention to what affects the Cowboys.

Might have been covered earlier, and I missed it, but wouldn't he have been waived injured and given a settlement like the other CBs if we weren't likely intending to bring him back? Is that a sign of their intention, or do they sometimes waive injured players without settlements for some reasons that's not immediately clear to me?

And I still don't know what he looks like... Was he white or black? Going by the name, it's hard to tell.

Here's what the Cowboys official site says, which indicates Johnson will be back unless picked up or the team gives him a settlement:

Third-year safety Matt Johnson headlined 13 roster cuts by the Cowboys on Tuesday afternoon, as they trimmed their roster to 75 players ahead of Thursday’s preseason finale.

Johnson is one of four players to be waived/injured, which means he reverts to the Cowboys’ injured reserve if he clears waivers. The more likely scenario is the team will part ways with the 2012 draft pick, who has yet to play a regular season game, once the sides come to an injury settlement.

The team made four other injury designations with tight end Jordan Najvar, who tore his Achilles last weekend against Miami, defensive backs Johnny Thomas and Justin Green and linebacker DeVonte Holloman.
