Just replying to your longest running film franchise. Are those numbers adjusted for inflation or whatever the term is when comparing old money to new money is.

Did a google search for franchise value. Either way, Marvel is still way ahead of Star Wars. And Star Wars ahead of Star Trek.

Yeah, if all 7 Star Wars movies plus Rogue One were released during same marvel recent history time line.... I'm sure marvel makes up that 4 bil gap.

Per film I believe Star Wars, Harry Potter and the Middle Earth films are neck and neck. With Star Wars and Harry Potter averaging about 1 billion per, and the Middle Earth films just slightly under

Well that formula isn't exactly old and tried, since it's the biggest movie franchise around still. The classic tale of good vs evil will always be relevant in today's world.

That's what I meant.

It's a tried and true formula that will be retooled in many different works of fiction going forward-- not just in Star Wars.

And I'm okay with the repackaging here.

Though I am hoping we see some more modern ideas prevail in this series going forward.

The Orig Trilogy wasn't only successful because it was a proven story line. It was successful because it was part of the beginning of a new era of cinematic wonder.

The "world building" combined with special effects was next level movie magic at the time.

The new trilogy will not be able to get by on those elements alone.

I have no problem with some of the "rehash" because some of the rehash is part of the story for the entire length

You have a hero
Hero has a non-human friend (jar jar binks, c3p0, r2d2, bb-8, k2s0)
The droids (droids plus jar jar) add humor sprinkled through the back story
The hero is guided by the light side of the force to defeat the dark side
main dark side character is the "bad guy"

I mean, theres only SO many ways to write the story and it be "different" for each section. It really cant, or it messes up the entire plot line.

Sure, they could drop the funny droid character, but who wants that?

anyhow, on the topic of RO

what was with that one space scene where the destroyers looked like they were made of legos?

Were they trying to pay tribute to ANH when they had crappy graphics or something?

The rumor about his originally being the villian of the prequels is pretty interesting at least. There are some great videos about it on Youtube.

Man, i hear ya and I'm always "perusing" the interwebs for info... it's like crack for me.

I couldn't take if that happened...

is it a great plan in real life = yes!
Is it a great plan for my Star Wars fandom = no fudging way!

Lol

Oh I agree, it would have been awful. The only reason's it's interesting is because it didn't happen.

Rewatching Captain America Civil war on Netflix. Got a question...why in the heck does that mother who works for the state department blame tony stark for the death of her son, when the avengers fought to save slokovia and the earth. Stupid

Because she believes they were wreckless. You have to consider it from a citizen's point of view, the Avengers are like a private army with nukes and they're financed by a private citizen the world knows, Tony Stark.

The beauty of Civil War is that you can understand both points of view. Stark is an established businessman and wants to make the Avengers legit. Steve Rodgers is a man out of time with no real ties to anyone and was betrayed by the last organization he showed loyalty to, S.H.I.E.L.D.

Well, Tony, did create Ultron...so he is kinda responsible.
