The Gameday Atmosphere is Still Lacking At the New Stadium

I hate to say it but despite the increased seating and all of the state of the art technology, the gameday atmosphere is still lacking. I have been to one game this year and I expected the place to be rocking. It was not unfortunately. For a stadium of our size, we still don't make that much noise and I, for one, am sick of all the tired old piped in music at all the stadiums. Most teams play the same songs, etc. What do we have to do to get more team chants, etc going?

I don't know maybe I am just getting tired of the sterileness of the NFL in general. Though I am no fan of Ochocinco, fining him 20,000 is beyond ridiculous. It was a joke. The celebration rule is ridiculous as well. I am not for taunting the other team but fans love endzone dances, etc. It is supposed to be entertainment, yet the game itself is becoming a bore and watching a game on television is becoming harder and harder. It seems like there is a commercial after every freaking play.

Any game experience is what you make of it. The sights, the smells, the memories are all about how you choose to enjoy them. You focus on whatever emotion you feed that day. I can go to a High School game with a couple of thousand people and get a game day feeling if I am there to enjoy myself. No idea why anyone would be incapable of the same at an NFL game with their favorite team.

#1 their's too much distraction from the game itself.

#2 that's just the way it is down there

#3 it has sounded louder than the old one atleast imo from watching it on tv.

People are going to complain about the new stadium just to complain, but here's my two cents on the rest:
  • The NFL isn't 'sterile' and hasn't been remotely 'sterile' for nearly forty years. Attempting to remake the NFL into what it isn't would (and has) contaminate professional football in this country.
  • Contrived, rehearsed and elaborately transparent staged touchdown celebrations looks great on ECW or in video games, but it's unnecessary for the popularity of the NFL. The league should have fined him double what they did. It won't be long before certain players want sideline reporters running onto the field between plays for interviews. Great passing, rushing, receiving, blocking, tackling, blitzing, interceptions, etc., isn't enough for some fans. They want--no, they 'need'--ten or more seconds of a Wrestlemania intro to improve a professional football game. Nonsense.
  • Commercial breaks are irritating as heck, but ultimately understandable given the billions that the networks spend on NFL television contracts. Not millions. Billions. Until someone can think of a practical alternative, commercials are a necessary evil--even if they are cuss worthy at times. :)

I agree about the celebration rules and I think this is a good subject. As long as they are in good taste it is a bad decision to not only say you can't celebrate but to penalize or fine players. How stupid. It's a part of American Football! Those old original endzone dances are classic. Something else, for example we see T.O.'s Ussain Bolt endzone celebratiopn or his Air Jordan imitation highlighted by the NFL ALL THE TIME but yet fine the guy for it. I would be pissed if they fined me $$ and turned around and used it as a highlight.

And another stupid, childish rule is the delay of game penalty over spiking the ball.
The only time I could see that being justified is if the clock is running and the defense spikes it. Like Newman vs the egals last week when he kicked the ball. The pass was incomplete! The clock was stopped so why penalize a player? Are there no more balls or people standing around to put it or one of the other dozen back into play? And it's not about defending Newman either. If a guy runs the ball and doesn't get the first down and spikes the ball in anger... so what? I want to see the guy mad and frustrated! I wanrt to laugh at him. :) The clock stops anyway so why does it matter if he spikes the ball?
Stupid rule.

Perhaps we could organize midget toss competitions? I think the North American record is 12 1/2 yards. Or how about A live tuna flogging of a local TV celebrity?

There are a few alternatives. They call themselves the NBA, NHL, and MLB. Thank you, but I'll take the NFL and everything corporate about it. All sports have become what you just spoke of.

It's nothing new.

Looks like Roger Goodell is getting a jump start on things since the start of his Commisioner days. Now we hear possible rumblings of having a Super Bowl overseas? Are you *** kidding me?

Do you really believe that the NFL will host a Super Bowl overseas? Just asking.

Speaking of crowds that "suck", the Philly crowd last week was one of the most docile I've heard in some time.

For a group of fans with a reputation of being so raucous and intimidating, they were as quiet as I've ever heard Cowboys Stadium.

its been that way at the linc for most of the cowboys games.

04, 05, 07 and now 09.

but hey. There northeast blue collar steel mill workers who eat mac and cheese, take the bus and live and die for there team. They must be the best fans.

if anything were to ruin the NFL for me, it would be the ungodly amount of commercials (it's beyond ridiculous, laughable even) and of course, horrible officiating with regards to QB's.

someone on here posted a little while back that there are only an average of 15 minutes of actual gameplay being played in a game... and of course the games go well over 3 hours most times

Which game did you go to?

I been to every home game this year. It is a loud stadium....down on the field. That is the way it was designed.
My friend even made a comment about that. She said it's kind of amazing how loud the stadium is for as BIG as is is. That we can hear each other and it doesn't seem as loud in the upper sections, but is much more loud lower down.
Even though she usually sits with me in the 3rd level [which can be more lively, hopefully, eventually it will] But she has sat in the 400 and the 200 levels also. When my friend who has the other seat doesn't go, she goes with me. When he does, I managed a few times to get another friend that usually has an extra ticket for her to sit with. So she seen what it is like in other areas.

Since it is such a bigger stadium, the noise is more dispursed, and is designed for it to project down to the field.

Other stadiums may seem loud because they are smaller and more enclosed.

I agree somewhat though that the events during commercial break are basically missing. They did seem to do more at the old stadium. But it's the 1st year, so they have things to work on.

I also went to a game this year. The Seatle Game. No it is not a loud stadium for the amount of people it can hold. The thing that caught me with the crowd is they seemed so nervous. Cowboys had tp punt on their 1st possesion and the crowd had this "Oh no not again" type feeling. Then Seatle wne tand scored a filed goal and people couldn't believe it. Once the Cowboys pulled away it picked up. I think the fan base is a little nervous and has lost confidence in this team. Once we start winning more consistently and the fans believe in this team it will get louder.
