The Garrett Effect

I'll be laughing all the way to my grave with this comment. I'll believe it when I see it. If this team plays like a good team in the first half and the defense makes stops, maybe I'll get a little bit of faith, but...c'mon. Like this team really cares about an embarrassing loss. It's going to TAKE this embarrassing loss for them to look at themselves in the mirror and change. You'd think losing to the Jets would be embarrassing enough for this team to get fired up...I doubt it will happen tho. Optimism is a strange thing.
Do you think they don't have pride? If you really feel they're a lay down bunch and won't give everything, why watch?

A team that fights back from 28 and 18 down is not a team lacking heart. They've lost 3 in a row and some are pissed but they started out slow, and have had that problem before playing good teams, and came back.

Man, if I really felt that way about these guys, I'd already be gone. I am not watching that crap from any team. I don't ask that they win but I do demand they leave nothing in the locker room.

Well said but what if they lose to the Eagles and he's still there as I think he will be.

Do you think this fanbase of merch and ticket buyers will do anything? It took drastic measures for the Saints fans to bring change and the Lions fans to get Millen fired. Booger is immune to anything the fans could or would do and some here would be surprised that our disdain for Garrett is not shared by as many as we think.

I agree with you here. The approach I think is most reasonable: we know that Jerry is the owner and there is no reasonable hope for that to change. We know that Garrett is a poor coach (or mediocre at the very most optimistic). One of these variables cannot change (Jerry) and almost certainly affects the likelihood of making the proper change to the other variable (Garrett/the future coach). While I have very little faith in Jerry making the proper choice, Garret being a poor coach is a known (IMO). I'd rather risk the unknown and hope to get lucky. Worst case scenario we're in the same spot we are now with a poor coach.

Garrett is a poor coach to us but the perfect coach for Booger. We apply football principles to evaluating a HC; Booger applies comfort principles.

When Son talked him onto firing Phillips during the season, he had to do some convincing because he was comfortable. Wade knew his place and to stay out of the spotlight. Son had to reassure Booger Garrett knew his place and would be amenable to the role of Cowboys HC. And that's what it is, a role to be portrayed.

Just look at how quickly Garrett crawfished out of his radio statement about Linehan to stay in the good graces of the Joneses. Which brings up another strong reason I think he's extended. Garrett has already proven he can play the eunuch role as well as Wade played it. Guys like Riley might be too prideful.

So mardy, no Garrett Effect for you? I ain't kiddin', it's real. Booger made a deal with the Devil and now he's made a side arrangement for Garrett. Spaulding to the dark side.

The team is ripe to implode at any moment. I believe the Eagles will be ready after getting stomped by Minnesota, this team will be hype the first 5 mins but then crumble like the cookies they are.

Funny that you think this team will wake up for the first 5 minutes. More likely than not they will play like a superbowl caliber team in the last 5 minutes in garbage time after being down 42-3.

I am rolling with the Cowboys in this game. I do not think either team is top 4 material but this has all of the ingredients to be a Garrett game.

Reports are he's getting hammered on local radio and national sports programming, he's lost 3 in a row and there's speculation he's lost the team. All a set up for a Garrett game.

The guy pulls his butt out of the fire just before the bomb is going off more than any coach I've seen. I can't explain it except to call it The Garrett Effect. Just when you think he's going down for the 3rd time, he's standing next to you on the dock.

The ones that are all on the fire Garrett often wagon will be conflicted between their desire for their team to win competing with their desire to see him canned. Even if it's beating the Eagles, that conflict will be there. Such is the dislike for this coach. Any man that can compete for the distaste a Cowboys fan has for the Eagles is in rare air indeed.

I don't know if I'd pick them to win any of the remaining games except the Skins and maybe the Giants but I am all in on them in this one because I believe in The Garrett Effect.
Lol, he has more lives than a cat.

I see where you’re going with this, but with all the injuries on offense, a win this week would require a level of defensive domination I haven’t seen since Garrett became head coach.

You’re right in that there have been plenty of times the team has pulled out an unlikely win, but usually, it’s on the back of the offense.

Fletcher Cox and company are going to spend the night in Cowboys backfield blowing things up. The Cowboys DL is not scaring anyone. Wentz will have his way with little pressure and a weak secondary to attack. The Cowboys have forgotten where their strength was, became complacent, and now find themselves getting dominated in trenches on both sides of the ball.

This season is in a fee fall.

I understand everything thinking Garrett comes through once his job is on the line. I even have said this is the time he does this sort of thing. But my true gut feeling is exactly what you wrote in your post.

As much as I am unhappy with Garrett as HC, this team can play football when all their players are healthy and on the field. They are just not good enough to overcome the decline in the OL and DL this year. Part of that is on Garrett/Marinelli and their crap schemes with lack of adjustments and part of that is on the Front Office for forgetting you need bread for the butter.

Is anyone any good at making paper mache look alikes? We should get a bunch of the Jason Garrett Paper Mache look-alike heads and burn them everybody video put it on Twitter lol

Then we should start a petition to send to Jerry Jones isn't there a way to do an online petition?

Sometimes it is just more than team talent. Intensity plays a huge role in these games. Back in 1992 a player on the Kansas City Chiefs flat out said we had to up our intensity level to match the Cowboys. It's more than just talent. It's how you go into the game.

If they *lose*, 4th loss in a row, lose the division lead and tie breaker to the leader, the bye week could get very interesting.

Garrett effect or whatever you may call it this team is decimated with injuries at key positions. It effects the play calling to be even more conservative.

That being said, I just don’t foresee them winning this contest. Get ready fellow fan base. This thing is going to get even uglier. And it actually kills me to state that. High hopes are now replaced with full blown damage control for the remainder of the season.

exactly, it is attitude pride and motivation. JG's idea of motivation is making mantra T shirts.
right now the cowboys just show up to play and hope they win, that wont work most of the time.
