The Garrett Effect

I'm extremely torn about this game. As OP mentioned, Garrett has been on the brink like this 3-4 times before and clung to life with a fool's gold win or two to stop the bleeding. A big part of me desperately wants the Eagles to finally land the knockout blow on Garrett's kisser. A decade is enough - the madness must end somewhere.

I'd hate to watch the season go down the drain but there's a real argument to be made for a little short-term pain being worth it in the long run if we can finally shed this cancer.
Well said but what if they lose to the Eagles and he's still there as I think he will be.

Do you think this fanbase of merch and ticket buyers will do anything? It took drastic measures for the Saints fans to bring change and the Lions fans to get Millen fired. Booger is immune to anything the fans could or would do and some here would be surprised that our disdain for Garrett is not shared by as many as we think.

I’m taking Cowboys and giving the points. This Egirls team a bigger fraud than we are.

At this point I want the eagles to anniliate them. Full bore embarrassment is the only thing that can save this franchise from more mediocrity and false hope.

I too hope they get blown out 52-zip. Embarrassment is a great way to change your ways.

this has the same feeling as last year. The 3-5 start had Garrett getting roasted on local and national radio. Then they win against Philly and go on a winning streak and short playoff run. So, I expect a win Sunday. Now, that being said if we lose and there is a growing sense that Garrett is loosing the team then he will be fired mid season. Doesn't matter what Jerry is saying now. The moment the team quits on him is the moment he is let go.

There is a difference between this 3-3 team and that 3-5 team, however. That 3-5 teams still tried. They still had energy, passion, and inspiration to play the game. Were they still losing? Yes. But you can't tell me they didn't go out into every one of those games and try to win.

This 3-3 team has completely given up on Garrett. It's almost like a coup d'état. They don't care to win anymore. They don't play inspired ball. They don't play to win. They don't play with passion. None of that anymore. This team likely won't win on Sunday because of that very reason. They're heads aren't mentally ready for that game. Tanking is on the mind. This doesn't even include injuries.

Oh no. Don’t tell me this fan forum isn’t an accurate representation of Cowboys Nation. Lol

Of course the overwhelming view here, and on national television, and on the internet and just about everywhere else is - tah dah!

FIRE GARRETT.

I'm in a agreement of course, like I said a couple of years ago, he's had his chances, and it (SB) didn't get done. As one talking head said "Garrett may not be the problem, but he's not the solution", which is my view as well.

But Fire Jason sounds vaguely familiar, hmm, let me think...... oh wait! I remember!

Fire Barry.
Fire Chan.
Fire Dave.
Fire Bill.
Fire Wade.

All done. And what did we get? Jason.

Fire him and NOTHING will change but the name on the door, as long as Jerry is cognizant of his surroundings.

Of course it'll be nice to have someone new to kick around, but if anybody thinks getting Payton, or Riley or whoever will bring this team back to glory, you're going to be disappointed.

Again....

The front office is as much to blame as Garrett for the current lack of talent/depth in the trenches. We know Jerry is untouchable and apparently Jerry feels Garrett is untouchable because with the exception of maybe the Bengals, Garrett would never have survived leading another team to mediocrity.

I don't think Belichick could coach this big-body lacking roster to a win Sunday night, though he likely would never allow this to happen.
Oh, I am not saying Garrett is a better coach than Pederson at all, this is about that uncanny thing he does by extricating himself and giving Booger some more ammo to defend him.

Garrett is not there to win, he's there to be what Booger needs as a HC. Even if they get torched Sunday night, he will not fire Garrett and he already has the injury excuse and I can just hear him "we were 3-0 when we were healthy". You and I and the majority of us know that's unadulterated BS but he's not interested in talking to us.

I do not know what it is like today but back in the 80's when I had season tickets, I was the only one in my vicinity that got pissed when we lost. The ones around me would just say "good game, better luck next time". A Dallas Cowboy game is unlike any other NFL home game, it is as much an entertainment, let's go out for a good time, event as going to a game. Back when I lived there, it was the same at the Stars game, more were screwing around on their cellphones than watching the rink.

Give Dallas the glitz and the glamor, the game is secondary, and Booger is very good at doing that.

Sounds like an obscure physics effect that accelerates entropy in an abominable way.

"In today's news, the Garrett effect has affected yet another segment of the population. Leading scientists were asked when this horror would end and the common response was 'It's a self-perpetuating field. It cannot be stopped.'"

They can beat the Eagles because the Eagles suck. It has nothing to do with Garrett.

It's easy to get to the point of thinking it is if one doesn't talk to other Cowboys fans. I texted Monday with two guys that had season tickets in my vicinity and still have them in the new digs and their response was like "rough game, win some lose some" and they'd gone to NY to see the team play.

I used to think all fans were as wacky as I was and took this personally when they'd lose, how dare they? I discovered later what they already knew, it's still just a game and the people who enjoy it the most go to see them play, not to win.

Well his players have given up on him for good. They aren't going to try in this upcoming came, and they're not going to care if they win or lose. He won't be able to pull a win out of his arse this time.
Oh for the love of everything holy. SHUT UP. You keep saying things like they are fact and they arent. Stop. Please

LMAO, you explained it better than I can. All I know is that until it doesn't happen, it's still there. And no one probably likes the drama of it more than Booger.

Oh really? Why didn't the players high five him the other day during the Jets game? Why are past players calling him out? This team has given up, past and present players alike.

Can't agree with that, these guys are returning home after losing their 3rd game in a row. If they despised him, they'd still give everything they've got, this is the Eagles at home on SNF and these coaches and players live there during the season.

3 in a row is bad enough but let that 4th be on the national game of the week at home against that team? No way they don't care. We'll get the best they have to give.

I don't see it happening this time, especially if the Cowboys come out and playing uninspired in the first half. Then it will be a game that Philly will easily win. I don't like the thought of losing to Philly. But, if we do lose to them it should be yet another nail in the coffin that leads to this season being the last for Garrett as a Cowboy's coach.

Fletcher Cox and company are going to spend the night in Cowboys backfield blowing things up. The Cowboys DL is not scaring anyone. Wentz will have his way with little pressure and a weak secondary to attack. The Cowboys have forgotten where their strength was, became complacent, and now find themselves getting dominated in trenches on both sides of the ball.

This season is in a fee fall.
Yeah I think I agree with this take. Although I do understand where the OP is coming from. Garrett always seems to do just enough to maintain his job. But this year just feels different. The flaws in this team seem fatal and unfixable midseason. I also think there's something going on in the locker room.

Yep
Winning just makes it more fun. That should be my signature:)
Done!

his teams seem to like putting themselves into the corner and fighting their way out of it.
they LOVE it.
i'm not betting against them.
we'll find out where they go.....but it sure looks like the stage is set sun night for a get off the mat and fight back for a W.

I'll be laughing all the way to my grave with this comment. I'll believe it when I see it. If this team plays like a good team in the first half and the defense makes stops, maybe I'll get a little bit of faith, but...c'mon. Like this team really cares about an embarrassing loss. It's going to TAKE this embarrassing loss for them to look at themselves in the mirror and change. You'd think losing to the Jets would be embarrassing enough for this team to get fired up...I doubt it will happen tho. Optimism is a strange thing.

Wait a minute. You argued with me tooth and nail a week ago about Witten saying he would run thru a wall for Dak being a lie because he has class. So now I am supposed to believe ex and current players? Interesting

the eagles will come out firing on offense, trying to get ahead and forcing dak to have to throw in order to win. if we can't stop this, we're in for a long night. our d-backs are going to be tested as never before. ertz and goddard will get multiple touches. wentz will be throwing long all day long. the hotboyz will get punched in the mouth over and over. I don't see a happy ending for the cowboys in this one. the eagles will have an attitude. we've yet to get one.
