The genius coaching hire(s) of Cowboys Coach Brian Schottenheimer

And what is sad is it didn't have to be this way. We all know who Dak is and what he brings (or maybe I should say "doesn't bring"). We all know he's not the future of the Cowboys. I just wish Barnum and Bailey (Jerral and Cap boy) would take off the blinders. If they upgraded the offense and defense like they say they did, then (for a year or 2) it doesn't matter who our QB is. We can still make it deep into the post season. It gives them time to find who our future Franchise QB is.

But I digress.
Maybe we don't know what Dak brings to the table seeing that he has had subpar play calling from the OC his ENTIRE pro career! Let's see how he looks without outdated play calling and defenses calling out the play and being spot on before he ever snaps the ball. If and it is a if these guys can bring Dallas play calling into the modern era then just maybe Dak is just what we need.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but Schott ain't bringing in some new 2025 innovative scheme.
That's a huge portion of why he was hired.
So that Dak did not need to learn a new offense.
Not sure if you remember the evolution of said playcalling but ground zero was Linehan to Garrett to Moore. And that's where it was and is. The Moore to McFraud transition was the infamous "still 80 percent of Kellen's offense" so as Dak to stay comfortable.
There is not gonna be any Reid/ McVay/Shanahan/Payton type innovation on display here.
If anything, more basic and continuity. Possibly more resembling the first 2016 Linehan version of down hill running/timely play action.

Hint: It hasn't been on the now 5 different playcallers.
They had to keep it simple considering that's who they were working with at QB.

They literally didn't. They saw it wasn't going to pan out with Wentz and they moved on. Jerry has done the opposite.
didnt they get a #1 pick for him too?
So they didnt just get rid of him they profited from the trade.
Dallas will never get a #1 for dak, or a 2 or 3 etc lol.
They will stick with him till he is worthless.

...we might finally say, "hot damn"... we got a team that can bring it home.
LOL

Why does this sound familiar?

Oh yeah. THIS website, in May 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc 2010, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc 2005, etc etc etc etc 2001, etc etc etc etc etc

LOL

In football, a head coach relies heavily on his assistants, who play a crucial role in various aspects of the team. Assistants provide support, expertise, and leadership in areas like game planning, player development, and recruiting. While the head coach ultimately leads the team and makes final decisions, the assistants are integral to the team's and head coach's success.

In this thread, we will discuss new Cowboys Head Coach Brian Schottenheimer's first and extremely critical coaching hire in Offensive Coordinator Klayton Adams...

Nice. Thanks for posting. I kind of didn’t pay much attention to this hire when it happened. But listening to how he wants the players to be violent and how he turned around the Indy and Cardinals running games. Yeah baby that’s what we need. I’m excited about the run game. If the run game is legit and he turns it around like he did for the Cards and Colts then as a defense what do you do? Bring a safety up? Lamb and Pickens will love that.

Very encouraging. Troy Aikman showed flashes of greatness. He was accurate and tough when Schula was the offensive coordinator. But when Norv took over then Aikman’s skills were used. Then Zampese had the same system.

He’s made some great coaching hires and the staff seems to have recovered quite well from any skill or experience they may have lost to Quinn.

I’m hopeful, but we’ll see where they are in December.
I said around draft time that the Schotty hire was growing on me. My first reaction was very similar to Michael Irvin’s. But I’ve always been a fan of the Eberflus hire. Didn’t know much about Adams. But after watching the video I am excited. I’m going to do some more research/youtubing him.

I’m really excited to have a smash mouth run game. And some of those RBs that Adams coached up surprised me. Smash mouth run game will make Dak way more effective and keep our defense off the field, specifically our run defense.

With the OC and DC hires and the draft it takes the pressure off Schotty to be coach of the year. I mean if Barry Switzer can win a Super Bowl with good coordinators and he was semi retired when he coached then that shows you how important coordinators are.

Solari Prince Nolan later version Zimmer I like the fact that the staff and HC now got younger I’m all in favor for this trend and I think it’s intentional from the owner .

The OL coach out of KState was called the “ best “ college OL coach in America and the DL Coach from the Jets highly thought of in the league . And I’m more than ok with Fassel at ST moving on .
