Jerry keeps his team relevant for getting into playoffs.
Howie keeps his team relevant for getting into SB's.

Part of the problem is Jone boys are not good a shopping in FA and or trades.
Howie is very good at both.

While jones boys do ok in the draft , howie often does way better.
Jones boys tend to low ball good players, and overpay their stars.
Howie makes smart deals and never over pays stars.

Howie also gets rid of players who dont play up to a certain standard, where jones boys just hang on to them until end of contract.

Would howie have put up with gregory? drafted jalen smith or bossman? no he wouldnt.

So all this adds up, but jones boys are really bad at shopping FA and making trades. So if they do try you may wish they hadnt.
They really need to hire someone savy to do those 2 things for them, or maybe let Shotty do that by himself.

Stephen Jones should be sitting with Howie right now with pen and pad (lol)

well, no surprise. his salary is 51M AAV, which on paper shouldn't have much of a difference. but Dak is on his second crappy contract. his first time around his cap hit was 17,19,25....so this is hurts first contract redo and numbers are small. money pushed to future and decisions to come. and they will have similar challenges, but at least they are in the superbowl and this is the second one for them. they are focused on winning and winning championships, not just increasing franchise value and profits. one puts you in history books along the best in history...the other makes you one of the 1000s of successful corporations and allows you to buy a yacht that's 20 feet longer

guess which one are we

Eagles do restructure, but are better at not keeping players past their effectiveness.

With Hurts though, they did his deal so there's a 97mil dead cap hit from options in void years starting in 2029.
So, it was pre-designed to be a deal acting like a restructured deal at the end of the contract without the yearly restructuring.
exactly. Jerry hates dead cap money and thus holds players literally to the end of their contract. outside of trading cooper, can't recall the last time he cut a player before his contract ended.

Hurts said he told his agent to spread the money as best they could so they team could still add talent. That’s the same reason Mahomes signed a 10 year deal… he could have pushed for short contracts to to reset the market every few years.

Ultimately, it takes 2 to tango. If Dak’s agent said “I want maximum amount of money up front as possible and a short deal or we’re going somewhere else”, Jerry has to say yes if he wants to keep the player. And that’s not me Blaming Dak; we know Todd France’s motives from the previous 2021 negotiation
jerry has a choice. he doesn't care. he could say no. but man, how can he say no to a player who was top 10 in jersey sales.
he could also get creative if he wanted to, and spread the money, like do a 6 year contract with 2 fake years at the end to spread the money, but he chose not to, this time around.
Dak and his agent can ask for all they want. Jerry has ultimate say as he always reminds everyone. the fault lies with Jerry.

I coined the term, Pseudo Competitive, meaning being just relevant enough. that's what Jerry does. winning championships will eliminate all the nay sayers and cowboys haters from talking cowboys. jerry doesn't like that. losing bad, eliminates lots of fans. jerry doesn't like that. somewhere in the middle keeps both parties interested.

I've been told Roseman has been doing all wrong by our fans.
I also had someone tell me since they have only won 1 Super Bowl under him, he's overrated lol. This is now their 3 Super Bowl in 7 years. They have more Super Bowl appearances than we do playoff wins in that time period. That we did all our winning in the 90s and they are just now playing catch up.

My whole life starting in high school, the Eagles have ran circles around Dallas in every aspect you can think of.

Who really cares how Rossman does it? The truth of the matter is that Philly is playing in another Super Bowl and has won another NFC East Division and another NFC Chanpionship. Dallas’ glory days were back in the early-mid 1990s when Jerry knew he didn’t know anything about football; and since then I guess the inner-coach in Jerry awakened from his hibernation thinking he knows everything about football…of course his induction to the HOF only reinforced his ignorance and arrogance.
Didn’t Jerry and or Stephen even spout to the press several years ago that the Eagles were going “all-in” (in the most appropriate sense) and were mortgaging the present for the future and would find themselves in salary cap hell? Well…now the Eagles are in the Super Bowl.
This is the braintrust of our Cowboys ladies and gents.

I like that phrase “pseudo competitive” …very much appropriate for this ownership and team.
And it has a certain panache about it!

It's not just how he manages the cap compared to the troglodytes in our front office. His player acquisition skills run circles around Jed and Jethro. I was delighted to watch their team implode at the end of last year, and had hopes that they would stay imploded. But what did he do? He drafted two corners with his first two picks who are playing All-World and signed a free agent running back who went for over 2000 yards. While we couln't afford Henry and instead went for the shell of what used to be Elliott. We talk about what a great drafting team we are, but he beats us there too.
For whatever reason, it seems the Eagles get more out of the people that they draft or bring in from other teams.

I won't lie, I had to look up Reed Blankenship because I remember when he picked off Rogers in his first game (Monday night game?). The kid went un drafted, made the team, and looks like he's not doing to bad. Kid's out of Alabama, had his heart playing for Sabin in college, got blew off by Alabama and played at Tennessee middle state university.

Then look at the guy they got from New Orleans, Zach Baun who basically played special teams for the saints. The guy is up for some defensive awards I believe.

Yes, I hate the eagles, but I can't lie, I get a kick out of the name "the exciting whites" between Dejean and Blankenship.

I mean, I honestly thought the eagles defense would suck this year, I really did.

kind of moot isn't it? They just pushing the cap hit down the road, correct?
Yes.

I can't WAIT for them to finally have to pay the piper.... some time in the 2050's

Just THREE SHORT decades away, and then we'll all be laughing (at least for a couple of seasons, before they simply rebuild again).
You would think other teams, mostly the Cowboys, would admit he's doing something right, and I need to adjust my system. It's foolish not to least compare their success against what you are doing.
We may not be in the SB, or even played in a conference championship game since last century.....but we're fiscally responsible....and THAT is the ultimate prize.

(Right?)

LOL...nobody in the history of the world has ever called anyone "the exciting whites"

What in hades are you talking about?
Look up "Exciting whites" along with Eagles. Saw a pic of them together entering the stadium I think on ESPN with that title, that caught my attention.

I had to look up Jordan Mailata as I had heard he was from Australia. Honestly, seems like a interesting story on his steps into the NFL from Australian Rugby.

Just seems that philly grows their talent or makes them better before they came, then if the players get to big for their britches, philly has no qualms with cutting them.
