The genius of Howie Roseman

I mean, I honestly thought the eagles defense would suck this year, I really did
You can forget that........as long as they have Fangio and a healthy Jaden Carter, they will be a top-10 defense for years to come. Look for Howie to simply retool players around Carter for the next few years. It's officially his defense........

Mike Borgonzi of the Brett Veach GM tree got the Titans job . Get a QB Mike round one .

LOL...nobody in the history of the world has ever called anyone "the exciting whites"

What in hades are you talking about?
It’s a play on signs you see in state run liquor stores in PA, Adventurous Red / Exciting Whites. They wore matching t-shirts to a game.

Hurts said he told his agent to spread the money as best they could so they team could still add talent. That’s the same reason Mahomes signed a 10 year deal… he could have pushed for short contracts to to reset the market every few years.

Ultimately, it takes 2 to tango. If Dak’s agent said “I want maximum amount of money up front as possible and a short deal or we’re going somewhere else”, Jerry has to say yes if he wants to keep the player. And that’s not me Blaming Dak; we know Todd France’s motives from the previous 2021 negotiation
Dak’s contract has four void years on it. Dak’s contract is more or less just as flexible as Hurts’. The Cowboys are just unlikely to spread the money out because they don’t wanna sign free agents anyway. It makes it easier to cry broke keeping Dak’s cap number high. Also Dak has no reason to give cap flexibility cause they won’t use it to bring in players anyway.

Sad to say, I didn't think about your line of reasoning, but it does make complete sense.

In some aspects, Jerry's foot in the mouth with his "all in" comment has shown his players what kind of GM he really is, particularly when he had the chance to get Henry. By all accounts, Henry thought playing in Dallas would have been the perfect situation, but per Henry's own words, Dallas never showed any interest.

Stephen Jones should be sitting with Howie right now with pen and pad (lol)

This is not really a fair comparison. Hurts is on his first contract. He has $97 million pushed into the first voidable year on his contract in 2029 If the Eagles keep him or re-sign him when his contract is up they Hurts will have a CAP number far worse than Dak.

Look at Hurts' contract. He has a minimum base salary every year of the deal. The Eagles owe him option bonuses each year instead of salary. This is like doing the restructuring in advance instead of converting high salaries into bonuses every year. I am not sure of the advantage except the Eagles have pushed $418 million into voidable years on 16 contracts. $178 million of it hits in 2029. Clearly the Eagles have created a window of opportunity for themselves between now and 2029. But we'll have to see how they deal with this over the next 5 years. I expect they will dump some contracts rather than pay out the option bonuses.

That pesky strategy of focusing on both Lines first and fitting in the rest around the foundations.
As you also said, we don't like players 'tainted' by these exotic/alien coaching methods....as these may not be in line with Jerry's understanding of the game.

They are in the Super Bowl for the 2nd time in 3-4 years. We are still trying to win two consecutive postseason games 25+ years.

Don't get me wrong, I like what they are doing and I believe this is the right way to do it in the CAP era. Jerry is not willing to go "all in". Ironically, he pay forcing himself to pay the same price even though he has not gone all in.

My point was comparing Dak's 2025 CAP hit to Hurts' is not an apples to apples comparison. The Eagles are doing with Hurts exactly what the Cowboys did with Dak - only more so.

On the other hand, I will bet that the Eagles will not give Hurts that second contract like Jerry gave Dak. I believe the Eagles will trade Hurts at some point.

What scares me is the Eagles now have a reasonable formula that could put them in contention over the next few years. This Super Bowl is on the strength of a strong defense and running game, NOT a QB passing 25-30 times a game. It's low-risk and sustainable.......look for Howie to build on it. Fans and media are already pushing him hard to go after Garrett.....and as they put it return to next year's Super Bowl.

It's not inconceivable that Roseman trades him. Even as soon as this off-season. Win the SB and maybe break-up the band to reinvest.
Roseman doesn't do sentimentality.

Garrett next to Jalen Carter…if that happens…who is our LT?

Howie Roseman compared to Jerry Jones isn't even close. Just look at Dak's contract as opposed to Jalen Hurts contract. You'll see why the Eagles are in the Super Bowl. Jones is not interested in winning a SB.

It appears they will have to adjust his contract after the 2026-27 season............

Honestly, this is what I'm expecting.........
Already reading nuggets suggesting ..........AJ Brown trade to Titans ( he and Vrabel are close ) and Jordan Davis, LBer Smith and 2025 1st to the Browns for Garrett.
