I think this is more of a the Cowboys are cheap thing than it is a Philly is smart thing. Certainly both parts of that exist to some extent, but Philly spent $328M in cash this year vs Dallas $280M (and that is with huge signing bonuses to Lamb/Prescott). There are a ton of cap breaks if you throw money at the problem. This in theory should be a major advantage that the #1 revenue team in the league should have, but I think Jerry/Stephen weaponize the cap to not have to spend as much cash.

True, but I'm most fans will take that all day IF it's putting me in a position for a Super Bowl every 3-4 years. Let's cut through the yang, yang (lol)...Howie/ Eagles are not afraid to take risks, but scare Jerry and Stephen to death.

I would agree, but I think it comes back once again to cost/cheapness as the root issue. Its a safer investment to go with the guys they are comfortable with. Signing outside free agents comes with elevated risk that they may need to eat a contract at some point. Also prevents them from getting comp picks which is multiple years of cheap control.

The bill does come due, at some point, for all teams. Dak’s big contract offers opportunity to open up cap space through restructure. The Cowboys need only decide how and who they want to proceed and adjust accordingly. It is not the disaster fans, and the Jones’, act like it is. The lack of a definitive plan going forward is the bigger concern.

The Hurts deal aroused the ire of Eagles fans much the same as Prescott’s has Cowboys fans. The difference is the other 52 players. Roseman is more courageous than genius. That team still needs to account for all that compensation eventually.

Its spending the money in a smart way. Look at the Browns? and other teams that spend big in FA and go nowhere. Its the whole organization that gets it done.

Uh our owner and his son have said this as well.

Roseman has figured out the balance between pushing money into future years while also not crippling the franchise for long stretches. Jerry and his sack of sweet potatoes of a son have been saying for 8 years that the Eagles will have to pay a price at some point.

And yet all the Eagles have done is make 3 SBs, win one and are poised to win another one. I wish Dallas was as poorly run as Philly.

PS - Yes, there is probably a point that the Eagles will have to massive retool but that cost was worth it considering the run they have been on. The difference between Jerry and Lurie/Roseman is they are willing to take risks to reach uber heights. Jerry and his son are risk adverse, they want to limit the potential downside but it stunts the potential upside. In other words, they are chicken **** owners at this point.

Your close. Jerry wants steady competitive teams and will not risk 1 or 2 down years because revenues would tank. He has to payoff the credit albatross around his neck at all cost. He is nearly self financed. Keeping Dallas relevant keeps consistent revenue streams and if they happen to win it all that is icing on the cake.

This right here is why Philthy is in the SB AGAIN and we're at home again. We are getting dog walked in the Front Office. Their GM is using a laser guided flamethrower and our GM is rubbing 2 sticks together. Embarrassing.

It's not just how he manages the cap compared to the troglodytes in our front office. His player acquisition skills run circles around Jed and Jethro. I was delighted to watch their team implode at the end of last year, and had hopes that they would stay imploded. But what did he do? He drafted two corners with his first two picks who are playing All-World and signed a free agent running back who went for over 2000 yards. While we couln't afford Henry and instead went for the shell of what used to be Elliott. We talk about what a great drafting team we are, but he beats us there too.

Yes it's genius to surround a mid qb with an elite oline and an elite defense. Jerry and Stephen think the eagles are in the bowl because of AJ brown and Smith I'm sure. Hurts 100 yard passing playoff games sure made the difference

Eagles have 2 great WRs, 2 elite OL, the best RB in the league, 3 or 4 great defenders, including the best young DT in football, no real holes on their roster, and no real cap issues the next few years. And Stephen thinks he's doing a good job.....

I would HAPPILY spend a couple of years in cap trouble to play in two Super Bowls!! It's not even a question. Plus, do well-run teams like Philly ever really spend any time in cap hell?

The Eagles have been good about understanding how to capitalize on a window.

They know it's going to hurt in the future, but that's what it takes to have a real shot. Also, they're going to mitigate the length of the pain of cap hell by releasing and trading guys later.

Our FO has no feel for these things.

Been hearing about this “future” since before their SB win. Since then they have played in multiple NFCCGs and 3 SBs and we havent even won back to back playoff games
