The Great Unknown

Kellen Moore = God

I am all for the Moore hire if he ditches the current offensive system. Of course, I understand this will not happen as Garrett isn't leaving. In my opinion Garrett has 3 major flaws as a head coach - an overly conservative approach to game management, clock management, and an inability to let go of his offensive system. If he could see his way to letting someone else take over the offensive scheme and change everything about it, I think I could deal with the other 2 issues.

To me the offense allows us to sputter along during the regular season beating bad teams and even a couple of good teams. But when we get to the playoffs the opposing D coordinators eat our lunch. I think the blueprint to stop the Cowboys is always the same - stop the run. And the last few years it hasn't helped that our 1st/2nd down tendencies, simple WR route trees, and running obvious plays out of certain formations has doomed us. We just aren't going to always win the 1 on 1 match ups. We need some scheming to help out the players! Jerry - bring someone in to help us out!

Go Cowboys!

I think Tony Romo would bean outstanding OC. Out. Stand. Ing.
I do too
But I think that’s gonna be several years down the road
He about to get a huge raise and he has young kids
I think he could come back to football one day but he is mighty good at what he’s doing and I don’t think the grind is appealing to him right now

Yup.

I watch other teams and see WR's running wide open. Just never see that w/ us.

Cowboys fans love hearing familiar names when it comes to drafting players, or acquiring a new offensive coordinator. Not just familiar in the sense that they recognize the name, but that the name has been associated with winning something or success in some context.

Most people hate the idea of Kellen Moore becoming the OC. I'm not excited about it either, but some of our best draft picks were unknowns to us at the time they were drafted and The Hoodie was once not a household name either.

The unknown would be easier to swallow if Snake Oil Salesman Jerry hadn't sold us snake oil before. I get that and acknowledge that.

On the other hand the Cowboys are quietly and steadily building a better and better team every year. All of us would love for the Hoodie to suddenly be coaching the Cowboys.

But since that's not happening any tie soon, whoever is hired we are going to have to get behind, because we aren't going to be consulted in the process.

Here's to a SB in 2020.
We aren’t necessarily getting better every year. We have had some setbacks.

You have to make the most of your opportunities because there’s no guarantee of next year.
