That's fine. Is there anyone you like more than our stable? Preferably that is young. I'm not really a fan of many backs in the league. Knile is a pet cat of mine, so he's really the only "full package" I see.
Hey I like the guys skill set.
And if this was next season, when his contract was expiring I think the Chiefs would let him go cheap.
For this season I could see the Cowboys either making do with what they have OR going with a back acquired on the "cheap"... 5th round pick or free agent pickup.
Many want to get a back that can duplicate what Murray did... 400 carries... 1,800 yards.
I don't think that's neither necessary or advisable. I think that was a "season of a lifetime" that we as Cowboy fans won't see again for a long time...
#1 It's just too much of a strain on a back
#2 If the back goes down, it leaves the guys behind a little untested. Just think where we would be if the Cowboys gave Murray 300 carries last season rather than the nearly 400– and the rest of the carries were split up amongst Randle and Dunbar. Heck if Randle had 100 carries last year for say 500 yards, much of the concern wouldn't have come up this offseason.
#3 The defense is going to be better (potentially much better) than last season. The "hand holding" by the offense is no longer necessary. The defense will not need protecting.
If Murray is considered a "10" back. And Peterson is considered a "10" back. I don't think a "10" back is warranted.
We've talked about Chris Johnson on this board a lot.
He wouldn't have to come in here and get 300 carries. It's not necessary. Carry the rock 250 times, gain about 1,200 yards and call it a day.
