The Herd: Not "Buying Romo & Cowboys Stock"

I have to agree with CC. Until the Boys prove him wrong history backs his take.

Do you think the Boys are contenders? I don't think they could beat NO or MIN at this point.

I agree

If you didn't win in the past... you can never win in the future.

It is written, so it is done.

Yet when stats support a positive thought, you are nowhere to be found.

I don't know about the rest of your stats, but the following Wade-coached teams had 500 or better records in December during his 9 years as HC.

1998 Bils
1999 Bills
2003 Falcons
2007 Cowboys (500 in Dec)

I also know it's inaccurate to penalize a coach for getting middling teams into wildcard playoff rounds where they are beat by better teams, which has happened to Wade at least two of the four playoff games he's had.

What you're doing is looking at strings of data that give you an incomplete picture, then drawing a wrong conclusion because that conclusion supports your insecurity about the current team. Wade doesn't get credit as a coach capable of getting his team deep into the playoffs because he hasn't done that yet, but you do need to at least try to look at his numbers in context to see if he's performed or not performed relative to expectations.

Bump. What's up with your Wade-stats 30YardSlant?

Bump.

I've always thought this was an excellent point. I could never understand how people can just throw out blind won-loss stats without looking at the data behind them. It's like abusing a team for losing in the Super Bowl...well, it was an amazing accomplishment just to get there...and that team won plenty of "big" games along the way.

Around here you would think that it would reflect better on Wade to not win the division just so you could play and win against a (possibly) lesser opponent in a wild-card game....then lose in the next round. You went just as far in the playoffs, yet you "won" a playoff game. Silly, imo.

Heard it through a friend...Colin Cowherd said that he isn't buying "Romo & Cowboys Stock" because he isn't an "emotional investor." Says that Romo pads his stats against bad teams and that Wade Phillips is incapable of preparing our team to play on the road in cold weather in December...says that the Cowboys will fold and won't make the playoffs.

He also said earlier in the year that the Green Bay Packers would beat the Minnesota Vikings "handily" at Lambeau Field. Final Score: 38-26 Vikings. Oops.

CowTurd is a Cowboys hater. Nothing more. I heard him talking about this, and the 8 Divsion leaders. He has Dallas as #8. Didn't listen to all of it. Changed stations. His hatred came out more than ever while talking. Just the tone of his voice made me sick to listen to him.

Agree or disagree with him, can careless of his opinion. But his tone of voice changed when it came to Dallas.

I normally don't listen, but the Fan was on Commercial.

Colin Cowherd has said more than once that he grew up a Commanders fan.

Colin is a shameless front runner. If the Cowboys ever show signs of winning big, he'll be telling everyone the Cowboys are the best team on the planet, and everyone needs to get over it now.

And he'll insult and belittle anyone who says otherwise (i.e. most of his audience).
