The Herd - Rating Dak

I dont feel like Dak regressed as much as it was defenses figured him out! Yes this whole organization is dysfunctional and a lot contributes to the downfall of the way Dak played but thats why Dak may not be right QB to lead the Cowboys. They need to continue looking for a guy with a bold strong confident personality that also has all the physical traits and mental traits and POTENTIAL to be an elite QB.

But they won’t . We are All In on Dak. We’re already talking about how big of contract we’re going to give him.

Much like our 8-8 teams Dak is good enough for Jerry to sell hope with.

Dak won over our hearts his Rookie season and Jerry will play that for years despite the results. Jerry can sell average like no one ever has. Don’t believe me just watch.

You must not listen to him. He's one of the more knowledgeable guys on TV. Doesn't spew a lot of crapp, just has logical analyses and such. And has a segment of where he was wrong, and discusses why he was wrong.

Kinda silly to say this about him w/o watching him.
NOT saying he isn't entertaining..or even fair now and again, OR that I DONT stop by his Tv show once and a while. Just saying he is who he is and sometimes we need to take him with a grain of salt. Small doses of Colin is ok,but anything more is at your own risk.

You are 100% correct!! What’s hilarious is that many of the posters saying Dak regressed, also consistently post about Garrett’s offensive coaching flaws( predictable passing scheme, bad or no in game adjustments, etc.) If these fans would put 2 and 2 together they might realize Garrett( and injuries to Tyrone ) are the reasons Dak “regressed” the last 8 games of last year.

And these are the same quacks that love Dez. Dez the clown still doenst have a job. They were all wrong about Romo at the end, Dak, Dez, the list goes on and on. Emotional types that are blinded by hate.

This is the type of naïve homer nonsense you see on this site. Its completely obvious that Garrappolo is a much more seasoned and better all around player at this time. Garrap will be one of the best QB's in the NFL going forward.
I'm going to assume this was sarcasm. It's the only rational explanation.

Anybody who doesn’t think Dak is at least tier 3 would just be ludicrous.

My personal opinion is that he already is a tier 2 quarterback. But obviously that will either be proven or disproven this upcoming season.
While I agree with tier 2 I think he is on the upper level of that and close to tier 1

While I agree with tier 2 I think he is on the upper level of that and close to tier 1

As I showed, Dak's numbers over the two years he's been in the league are better than most, if not all, of those "tier 2" quarterbacks. And in some cases, a "tier 1"quarterback.

Only one QB in the history of the league had an "arguably" better rookie season than Dak and that is Dan Marino. He's the only one that can even be considered to have had as good or better rookie season. That says quite a bit.

So Troy Aikman and Jeff George were equals then?

First lets see the Herd was talking about a QB's first 2 seasons and what he accomplished and that I agreed with so you want to compare 2 QB's, one that played 11 years and the other 16 years. Even though George played more seasons he had less completions, yardage and passer rating yet you want to TRY to discredit Herd's opinion by comparing these 2 QB's. If you don't like Prescott, that's up to you but your attempt to discredit Herds opinion was a bad try.

figured him out LOL when he was still dropping 30 a game the first half of the season and the defense blew 2 big games or was it after Zeke went out 6 games at the same time Tsmith went down as well as Martin for the Chargers game and no viable backups poor plans from the coaches etc to give him some help? was it all the dropped passes from his WERs? Beasly disappearing.. seriously he did have a right second half but even late games like Washington etc shouldnt have they figured him out? thats a lame excuse there are QBs that play 10plus year careers , doesnt matter if you know whats coming you have to get past the Line, have a plan for a great RB , and be careful of creative plays to take advantage of the pass rush etc.. His regression is overblown, sure he needs to play better and I expect him too, BUT there were a ton of excuses and it didnt help all that above happened during the worst part of the schedule think about it no time to react adjust or fix things with 3 games in 12 days with it starting a sunday night than Thursday than another Thursday game.. it just imploded because of all that..wasn't just defenses figuring him out..he will make them pay for the over pursuit and aggressiveness if they come at him like that again this year, I feel he learned and grew from that experience..

This is from a BTB article......not sure why it's so hard for fans to get it through their thick skull, Dak Prescott IS this team franchise QB in Jerry and Stephen eyes.

One thing has been clear since the season ended following a 6-0 victory over the eventual Super Bowl champions in Philadelphia — the Dallas Cowboys are putting all of their focus and attention in building the offense, and team as a whole, around their young Pro Bowl signal-caller.

Dak Prescott lit up the NFL world en route to 2016 Offensive Rookie of the Year honors, but Prescott — and the rest of the team — struggled at certain points during the back-half of last year’s campaign. Despite the rocky finish, our own Michael Sisemore wrote on why you cannot let Dak’s last eight games overshadow his first 24.

The Dallas Cowboys strongly believe that they struck gold in the fourth-round of the 2016 NFL Draft. Therefore, the front office and coaching staff want to do everything possible to make sure that they maximize the potential of their young, 24-year-old Pro Bowl quarterback

They struck gold is right. When are they gonna realize it's fools gold. Daks last season was compatible to Tyrod Taylor. While Dak had 22 tds and 13 ints and Wentz even though he was injured had 33 tds and 7int. Yep they sound about even. Dak had 8 games under 200 yds while Wentz had 3 games under 200.

For Dak to make those defenses pay this season he is going to have to show something we haven't seen yet. Big play capability.

The number is the number. Completion percentage is a stat indicative of accuracy. And such a high number directly refutes an unsupported opinion alone that says Dak is inaccurate.

If you want to pull up those other numbers, feel free to do so. I proved what I set out to prove.

Undoubtedly so.

But that doesn't change the fact that during his development, he's put up numbers that are far, far, better than more highly acclaimed quarterbacks. And yet, somehow, Dak is the guy doubted and scorned. That thought process makes no sense.

Not arguing either of your points. It's just accuracy by itself is an incomplete indicator of a QB's passing prowess. E.g., those that rag on Dak in spite of his high accuracy say he's a deke and dunk QB. But if Dak is rated in the top 10 in YPA and YPA, the deke and dunk knock would be disproven. I guess I need to do a little research because I don't fall in the deke and dunk camp.

Big Play to Dak is a 5 yrd pass that goes for 80 yrds.
sounds like Montana to rice #westcoastoffense #reality this happens for a lot of teams, its the scheme..Dak has had big plays at times hes won games late brought the team back twice in the playoffs..the defense has lost more games that could have got us into the playoffs or too the next round than Dak hasn't..the Coaches and scheme have to be designed to go downfield more and players have to get open or catch the ball..a few of those last year 40-60 yard deep passed that clanked off hands, bodys, and facemasks didnt help things.. so lest stop bashing Dak ONLY, it was much more than him that caused us to have a regression..thats the point get the F over what happened late in the season, it wasn't on Dak it has equal blame to go around the entire team coaches gm and FO..no depth, no plan, bad scheme, no execution, injurys, and suspensions with a bad schedule.. some how the likes of a Tim Tebow and other sub par Qbs have made the playoffs and won SBs..Difference is a better TEAM...
