My point was that as with most of these proclamations, acting as if things occur in a vacuum is foolhardy. I have no doubt that had he been asked to sling it as much as other QBs were slingin it in the league during his time Troy could have put up fabulous numbers.. I just don't think he would have won as many games doing so. What made Troy special and successful was his willingness and ability to subjugate his own numbers and goals for the good of the team. Troy COULD light a team up if they committed too many resources to stopping Emmitt, but frankly for the first 5 years of Emmitt's career very few teams were able to force him to do so. Unfortunately by the time Emmitt and the line started to get old and we needed Troy to carry us Troy's body was also starting to break down. Anybody looking at Lawrence's physical tools for comparison is looking in the wrong place. They need to be looking under the the hood. We won't know if he has the same stuff between the ears as Troy until he plays some NFL games, gets knocked on his keester 20 times in a game and throws 4 picks while being blown out 48-3. That's when we'll find out if Trevor Lawrence is Troy Aikman or Jeff George. You'll see it in his eyes.. How he competes.. how he comes back from being beaten up .. How he leads and encourages the same linemen who are letting him get beat to hell.. all of that. There's no way of knowing it to this point because he never endured any of that in college and I seriously doubt he ever did in high school either.
