Finally, someone else who understands finance.
Have run my own business since 1996... hoping I learned something along the way lol.
Well multiple businesses I mean.
Finally, someone else who understands finance.
Sign what other players? Most of our top guys are already signed or will be no problem. Lawrence was the last “concern” and it was dealt with. I just can’t see after dumping Dez how salary is an argument. So I say that possibility is slim to none. What is the possibility that that 2nd round pick is going to make it more difficult to sign other players because his salary is so high, or that age will catch up to him before his contract is up?
This team will never be finished rebuilding. We've been in rebuild mode ever since Garrett got here. Please show me the team in the NFL that has no questionable positions on their roster.
By the time you solve those positions, a ton of our players will have retired or moved on. Then, you'll have other areas to address.
This is a very complete roster in today's NFL if the QB is up to snuff. Thomas really establishes the defense as an elite group.
Indeed most loosing teams.
And yes it's not hard to predict if you bother looking at the evidance instead or relying on the hope of "next year".
Yes, Ben's first Super Bowl was on his rookie contract, but that wasn't within the last 10 years I mentioned. I believe the second was after the rookie contract expired (rookie contracts are 4 years, right?). In any case, as you noted, the bulk of the winners have not been in their rookie contracts.
And what happens when our "good QB on a rookie contract" goes down? I'll tell you. The rest doesn't mean squat!Conventional wisdom in the NFL says the absolute best time to compete and win titles is with a good QB on a rookie contract. We have that. This year and next. This is the time to strike. Yet Jerry and son are content to with the status quo. Content to roll out scrubs at safety instead of spending the $. The money saved on Dez’s contract pays for Earl. Earl makes this defense a top 5 unit. Who cares that we give up a third. A third rounder is what got us Chaz Green. Spend the damn money.
You mean Jimmy Johnson has 3 Superbowls. Jerry just plays a HC on tv don't you know?
So they took away Jerry's rings?![]()
But it's not that "simple", is it?
There's also the matter of what Thomas is actually looking for in terms of a contract. Unless we know what that amount is, it's impossible to truly say one way or another if this is a great idea or a bad one.
And that might be exactly why Seattle has no interest in extending him.
Jerry had to fire Jimmy so he could steal them. That's just what Arkansas oil wildcatters do when they don't
know a thing about football.
Now this is a reach of hate.
We will never know the amount until he signs somewhere. I think what’s been bandied about is likely generally correct and seemed affordable by this front office at draft time if we were willing to part with a third as has been reported. Clearly we wouldn’t have been in the discussion if it wasn’t deemed reasonable in the first place and I think we can all agree that this front office is not throwing out the huge cap killer contracts anymore.
I think Seattle has simply decided to turn the page on that era, i.e., legion of boom, and commit to youth.
I feel we are going to struggle in the passing game for a while while Dak gets used to these new guys and if we can actually look to the defense to possibly keep us in games, who knows?
They won't take a 3rd for him! That is why we did not get him during the draft.Conventional wisdom in the NFL says the absolute best time to compete and win titles is with a good QB on a rookie contract.
LOL some down years!!!Last year is last year, 20 years is 20 years, which in itself is a fallacy from the agenda crowds.
Can't change it, can only whine about it. And whining is detrimental.
So one must always look at what can be the upcoming year. es I know, this positive outlook can make you whine more. So go ahead.
Did anyone think after the mid to late 90's, this team would not have some down years. So it really has not been 20 years. Tuna gave some hope, then he left the team with one year left on his contract. Wade had some decent teams, but just not good enough. How many teams were in the same situation?
Now these past 8 years, yeah, has not been good except a few good years, Garrett seen to that. But this team is not devoid of talent. So there is a chance for all of us to look forward to.
Well except some will never see it that way.
so, whine away.
Such a loser's mentality. You are willing to stand pat with our roster instead of improving? No kidding one guy doesn't guarantee a Super Bowl but Earl puts us much closer than what we are rolling out right now.
Newsflash, no team who wins a Super Bowl is perfect at every single position.
Well technically he can be forced to play on that, and fined over and over for holding out. I don't think Dak would do that though, from the type of person he seems to be. Most teams don't force that on them if they are playing well though, since you don't want ill will from players, especially if they are your QB.
But if Dak performs like last year, then I see no reason to give him a deal.
